Not to mention that hide seems kinda small (especially if both are using it) adn there needs to be 2 (even if there is only 1 snake).
 
I highly doubt there's 2 cages, as the ad only mentions 1 and pictures both snakes in it. Also, $175 seems kinda steep for a cage and 2 yearlings from someone whom obviously doesn't know a thing about snakes. A responsible owner would have to purchase an additional viv on top of that cost. Maybe I'm jumping to conclusions, but the owner seems to want to make a quick buck.

That supposed "ghost" looks like some sort of hybrid to me?
 
What's a major red flag is when they can't even spell the simplest of words. Not on this ad but I was cruising craig's list this weekend and OMG the ads on snakes! It makes me feel so sorry for the animal. One ad the person had just gotten a little garter from petco and had to get rid of it because the wife and child were terrified of it!

Uh maybe you should have discussed this with them before bringing home a kind of pet that was bound to cause problems?

Do people think anymore?????

Every now and then, there are good snake finds on CL. I just picked up a 2-yr-old female this past weekend for $20 - I have yet to post her pic. I was pleasantly surprised when the girl selling the snake (she was only like 16 years old) gave me the 3rd degree before agreeing to show me the snake - Have I ever owned a snake before? Did I have a large aquarium? Was I familiar with feeding frozen/thawed mice? Then within 24 hours of bringing her home, the girl sent an e-mail asking how she was doing. :) Ads/owners like this are few and far between, though...
 
So much white on that (Candy Cane/Reverse Okeetee) snake! I'd be very worried about them mating at that age and having the female get in trouble. :(
 
Yea, you can find some good ones on Craigslist.. we did but yea, they are few and far between. And no ghost in that picture unless there is one lurking around looking at how stupid they are! lol

I'm actually about to go pick up a 5yr old Banana King found on the List that one owner is passing on with the viv for a mere $30. He's a big boy! She seems to genuinely care where her daughter's snakes go (they're moving out of the country), but since it's her daughter's hobby, not hers, she doesn't know about forums like Southtexasreptiles.com etc. where suitable owners could easily be found.

Unfortunately, Craigslist seems to also be breeding ground for irresponsible pet owners to adopt and dumb pets, though this is obviously not always the case.

On another note, I'm SO excited about this new snake! Can't wait to post pics of him!
 
I had a CL situation this past weekend. A customer/friend called me about a "yellow and grey" striped corn snake for $20. She was excited and was going to get it! She needed a cover and/or tank from me for a lizard she was picking up as well from the pet store. I asked, yellow and grey banded? Her answer was yes. I told her it was probably not a corn but a picture would help to make a proper ID for her.

A few hours later, a knock on my door. It was her and a snake in a pillow case. Yup, that was no corn...

Wish people knew what the heck they were selling!!!

The two look healthy to me. Sure, they aren't living by themselves or living in a paradise, but to me, they look healthy.

Me too, especially as I know very little, yet. I probably would have taken the person's word for it. So, what kind of snake IS that?

I got my Okeetee from a CL posting, though, and am not complaining AT all. I didn't know she was a member, here, until after we'd spent a couple of days talking about the snake before she decided that we could adopt him. I have yet to see a photo of a prettier or healthier-looking/seeming snake! I am very happy with him.

Off topic, somewhat, I will admit that some of those sunglow snakes and the tessarae patterns have me drooling, 'cause they're just as pretty as Fiesta. I wonder how many zillions of dollars it would set me back if I could even FIND a sunglow-type colored tessarae-patterned corn snake? Heck, I wonder if they've ever even been bred, yet!

The closest you could probably get right now would be a striped Amel. As far as I know this will be the first year that F2s will be produced from Tessera crossings with other 'recessive morphs' like Amel. I would presume that combining Tessera with the Amel Gene would remove that black pin striping along the main stripe and dark/black side colorations, so the look would be similar to the striped Amel. BUT that is just guessing since results have yet to be had, or at least displayed from that crossing.
 
Sorry, that snake is a 1.0 Lavender California Kingsnake. I am not sure of his age, but he has great muscle tone and very handlable!
 
Foamy was a craigslist rescue. And I say rescue because the guys place was horrible. The room was probably 10x10ft and this guy had tanks all over the floor and stacked on top of each other. He didn't have proper lighting, or feeding conditions. If one snake didn't eat the mouse he just kept moving the mouse from tank to tank to tank until finally it would end up in one of the Savannah Monitors tanks of which these were full grown and in a 20 gallon tank no less. I could tell when he took the snake out I came to look at that the snake did not like him. For one thing he had to wear a glove, the snake would strike out at him. As soon as Foamy saw me though he came right over and curled up in my arms and he has not ever struck out at me once in the two weeks I have had him.
Now a few days ago I just happened to look because occasionally there are people on there who ask about what a good vet is for reptiles and I saw a corn snake listing. I looked for the heck of it and this women was selling her normal corn. BUT she required that the person who wanted to buy it be able to show they can take care of the snake and also wanted someone with experience. Just on that alone I sent her an email commending her on caring where and who her snake goes to.
 
I have to admit I am a craigslist flagger. My area CLs (there are 3 areas near me in the boonies) there are TONS of breeders of all kinds of animals on there, even illegal to own in MO American Alligators! I cruise CL looking for supplies for sale for reasonable USED prices but rarely do you find anything. They all want RETAIL for used items :( I wish I could go buy all the snakes offered on there then post on Faunaclassifieds the ones I could not keep or did not really want (like boas and pythons). Some "fees" are outrageous. Like a guy who is obviously either a breeder or resaler posting gray banded kings. Wanted $200 each. No cage, just the 11 inch BABY snakes. I told him if I wanted to pay that I would go to a GOOD breeder who could give me references to speak to! Um, anyone know where I can get a good gray banded king? LOL
