Obamacare and the GOP: Watch What Happens!

Typical politicians. Push through and pass legislation then blast the opposite side for not voting amendments to fix what you voted in. uggghhhh. Here is a novel idea, get it right before you push the crap through in the first place. The whole thing should be repealed and action to fix individual issues should take place instead of a massive Obamacare law.

Step number #1 should be the absolute elimination of separate systems for all three branches of gov. They should participate in the same healthcare as the mailman that works for the gov. They should only get SS like any other US citizen. They should never be excluded from ANY legislation they pass, period. There should be term limits for EVERY politician. We should get back to government 'of the people, by the people, for the people'. No more career politicians. We need teachers, doctors, business owners, parents, janitors, cashiers, even lawyers, etc to serve. A cross section of our society deciding for our society not what will get them their next vote or what will get them their next kickback. Major issues should be voted on by the people! Our base gov is in place. There is no reason why we all should not get to vote on things like Obamacare just like I vote on school issues or a tax levy. :shrugs:

In case people missed the State of the Union last night, here is president Obama talking about the healthcare law.

I'll bet CEO's in the major insurance companies are going to be gnashing their teeth over this one. What a windfall it would be for any industry to have it a LAW that people must buy your product.

Speaking of which, will the courts now address the constitutionality of the REQUIREMENTS for automobile insurance? And how come insurance companies can blatantly discriminate on the cost of their premiums based on age, sex, and even location (which pretty much identifies race and national origin)?

Good question Rich. Guess we will see if the healthcare thing even makes it through being voided.

I have never been able to understand how a clause (commerce clause - The Congress shall have power to regulate commerce with foreign nations, and among the several states, and with the Indian tribes) can be so broadly interpreted. But the tenth amendment (The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.) is so brazenly ignored.

...teachers, merchants, and other workers would serve a term in Congress or other elected government positions, and then GO BACK TO THEIR REAL JOBS. We don't need an elite class of professional politicians. But that is what we ended up with.

Absolutely!

Old thread but didn't want to add a new Obamacare thread just to post this vid. Seemed fitting.

I can respect that woman's attitude. It's nice to see a person use a charming, comedic way of pointing out disagreements... especially in that party :sidestep:

(...I kid, I kid)

Here I thought she used charm and humor to point out facts ... :D :sidestep:

I think this obamacare policy has caused a feeling of anger among masses towards Obama. Just imposing health care policy without seeking consent of masses is just not done.

I'm having to pick up the extra slack from the backlash of this as work is scheduling part-timers only 26 hrs/wk and they aren't to go over 28 hrs. I'm a blessing, somewhat, in that my healthcare is covered by my wife's place of employment; also cheaper for us to do so too.

Connie was talking with a health insurance agent for Blue Cross & Blue Shield yesterday and he said they are expecting to see premium rates go up 30 percent across the board in January.

Quite frankly, those paying for their own insurance are going to find the expense untenable. Employers paying for insurance for their employers are also going to find this untenable if they wish to stay in business.

If the insurance industry can figure this out, can it really be a secret to the people promoting this Obamacare stuff?

Honestly, what incentive is there for the government to promote policies and procedures that would contribute to an extended life span of Americans? What benefit would they receive from people living long and healthy lives? Especially in relation to the older population. Once a person reaches retirement age and is no longer part of the tax cattle population, he or she is now a financial LIABILITY for the rest of his or her life. Would health programs that even start at an early age of a person that would increase the likelihood that larger portions of the population will live LONG and happy lives really be in the bests interests of the government from a financial standpoint?

This fact cannot be unnoticed by the bean counters as well as the decision makers in the government. While they would never admit publicly that this sort of discussion has taken place, can anyone really doubt that it has most certainly done so privately?

So quite honestly, I am REAL concerned about the government having more and more of a hand in my health and welfare. To put it bluntly, I just do not TRUST them to have MY best interests at heart.

Well said, Rich!

It is only logical that those in power will think that way, and discuss it behind closed doors. Yet most people go on their merry way, secure that papa government will take care of them in their time of need.

Obamacare will end up worse than even other fed programs IMHO. Any young healthy person is going to pay the fine until such time as they actually need coverage. Then using the no pre-existing condition rule they will get coverage when needed. This will cause huge underfunding and another fed program that is unsustainable. They will then be forced to raise taxes yearly, pass laws to regulate costs, and control services in an attempt to keep up with the failed model.

This will start the downward slope of our health system. Doctors will retire early or not accept the gov insurance. Hospitals will start segregated services having clinics to serve gov insurance patients and premium areas for those with the ability to pay or with good insurance. It will lead to a private system and a gov subsidized system. Some will get the care we have now others will get the minimum. The gov will continue to alter Obamacare until we end up with socialized gov healthcare.

When this happens, things will be cut. For example there are more MRI machines in Ohio alone than there are in all of Canada. The average non-emergency wait in the USA is 32 hours, in Canada it's 39 days. Expect ours numbers to trend to the socialized medicine world.

Make no mistake NONE of this is free. One cannot add millions to the insured pool, require more coverage, and expect the costs to go down. That fuzzy math ONLY exists in the heads in DC. If you believe politicians have your best interest at heart in Obamacare ask yourself why they are exempt!

Our healthcare system is the best on the planet. It's problem is the cost and availability not the quality. That will change with Obamacare.

Americans 34 times more likely to purchase a firearm than to purchase obamacare. :shrugs:
