Oh, Craigslist...

If it is Paget's or a similar disease the babies wouldn't show any sign....it takes time to develop......would have to look up the disease to find out whether or not it's a heritable condition...can't remember off the top of my head right now.

BTW I was never told about the male having a deformity. Then again I'm not even 100% sure those animals eggs came through the door. I'm just guessing

I'm at least glad you know that there is a possibility. Knowledge is power. Good luck.

He can feed frozen/thawed...don't know why anyone would have to prekill....looks like the snake might have paget's disease or a similar type of osteo malformation...not sure why you'd want to breed it though...

What WOULD be the kindest treatment for this animal? Obviously separate the pair, but then would euthanizing him be the right thing to do or to let him live out his life without knowing what kind of pain he is in, if any?

It would definitely be a case for a vet. X-rays would certainly be called for to determine if and what the snake has. Don't know that Paget's is particularly painful although the calcification buildup would be problematic......however, I would suspect that if he were in a lot of pain he would refuse to eat....or breed.....eating and screwing are usually down on the list of things to do when you're in a lot of pain....

May not need it in their house...they may have a warm house...mine have supplemental heat but frankly my snake room is plenty warm for a cornsnake even without it.

Meg, you have obviously never had a boyfriend!!! :roflmao:

(Sorry, TOTALLY couldn't resist that one!!!) ;)

This is true. In the summer we don't turn on the whole house AC during the day, it gets up to the high 80s in the house (up to 115° outside) but we have a mobile AC in the bedroom since we work nights and sleep during the day. I do leave the thermostat on the UTH at about 80°, but even then I rarely find them on the warm side. And if it gets too hot I even put frozen water bottles double wrapped in an old sock under a lot of substrate on the cool end.

AZ and Florida are two places this is pretty consistent, we live in the very low desert so in December it can be in the 90s during the day and below freezing at night. THOSE are the days where the thermostat is most helpful.

First of, he is 7 years old and still on pinkies?

Second, they have to prekill because he has a hard time coiling the pinky. And yet NONE of this added up to consider going with F/T.

You can't fix stupid. :headbang: :fullauto:

Sigh.

Try teling that to my husband....evidently we missed the boyfriend/girlfriend stage 31 years ago......and we aren't talking humans here but sensible snakes! :)

You misread the ad......he said they'll either have to prekill something or to be safe feed pinkies....if you can handle the squeaking...still have no idea why he'd feed live of anything....You'd have to feed a whole lot of pinkies to that snake...he doesn't look that small even with his issues....he's obviously made it this long. I would LOVE to see an x-ray on him though....

A friend sent me this and asked what kind of corn has this value...
http://longisland.craigslist.org/pet/5011059232.html

I might just have to call the guy and ask what morph it is...
I wish there was a picture!

Edit to add, I see now he wants 250 for the snake alone, that is more normal for a good size female of a nice morph.. but doubt he'd sell her on CL if he had something that was worth it.. just sounds weird to me.. ds

Since he already says she's almost 6 foot and the record for a cornsnake is 6 ft. 1" I'm already skeptical....if she's such a rare morph that he wants to ask that much he should have at least stated what the morph was.....otherwise he could sell her via a site such as this or kingsnake or something.....

That's what I am thinking too... God knows Im curious though... really curious.. I think he has an amel and think's it something special..

Hey, it's the rare dinker ball morph amel corn......16 feet long and taking rabbits....a mere $200......such a deal!

ROFLMAO I texted... I am hoping to get pics and name of such expensive morph.. hey it might be legit.. but if I get anything Ill post it here cause yeah Im curious now..

SO, I get this text:
She is I BELIEVE (really you don't know what your fancy corn is), Candy korn/caramel mix. And before we go any further are you ok with the price. I don't want to waste my time if you arent.

I said well if she's pretty enough I am ok with the price but I want proof of color as well as length before I commit to buying.

and no I am not buying but I want to see a picture of this corn snake.

ok so what does a Candy Korn look like anyway ... sorry never heard of it, I mean the Candy Cane I know but never heard of Candy Korn

I think he means candy cane, and if so it is not a 400 dollar snake... So he doesn't even know what morph he has. He likely has a pretty female and is hoping to make some dummy will buy it or HE got ripped off as it seems like he doesnt know much either..
