Last I lost my Peanut who was my first ever snake. After doing some research and all the wonderful advice I got on here I believe she was just too small and things happen. I went out today and found a really awesome Snow Corn snake. She weighs 2X the weight as Peanut did @ 15g and has had her first shed. She has taking 2 pinkies every 5 days. Have not figured out her name yet but a couple of ideas my 9yo is tossing around is Basil or Pandora

Are you sure she's a snow? She seems to have a lot of orange color for one in these photos. If she IS a snow, she's going to look AMAZING as an adult and probably be extremely colorful.

Well I was told she was a snow anyway lol. She is more white then the pictures show. my iPhone really brought the pattern out darker then she really looks.

Judging by how pink your fingers look in the photo, she probably isn't quite as pink as she appears! Very pretty still, though. I hope she'll do better for you.

Congrats !
Good looking snow motley/stripe !
Glad you jumped right back in! I would give her a few days to settle in her new digs :)

Mrobinson, I'm so happy for you. That is one beautiful and unique corn snake. 15 grams is a real good size. Still a noodle, but just a little larger and sturdier! I wish you all the best with her.

I love Aztec corns. I have a couple myself. That orange may really develop. Calypso did not show her peach or orange until she was much larger. I think you are going to be very happy with her.

She is already acting differently from Peanut. She is exploring and making tunnels already. Peanut always was above laying on top of the aspen. Didn't really think if it and it may be nothing but this snake is already making her new home hers not just being there. If that makes sense [emoji23]

So would she be a Snow Aztec or just an Aztec? The pictures really make her pattern darker I am going to try to get better pics but I love her patterns no matter. She does have yellow under her head and towards the front of her body.

Are you sure she's a motley, Daddio? She looks REALLY Aztec to me.

I think Aztec Snow fits NOW haha but my guess was based on the highly variable expressionism of the motley gene paired with the stripe gene. Where the motley gene tends to be dominant to the stripe gene then if the entire belly is checkered then I would rule it out but if it's sporadic checkering then I would say the Motley gene is in play here..
All that being said I have always stated that I am not a corn genetics guy and am always open to learning from experienced breeders as yourself :)

Calypso is an Aztec snow. I think Daddio is right in that she could be an aberrant motley, the aberrant being Aztec. I don't know much about the Aztec gene. Both of Calypso's parents were Aztec and at least one of them had a nice wide stripe, maybe both, I don't remember. The breeder, I think was Sara near Ocala Florida. She was breeding for wide stripe Aztec and was pleased with her success. If you put Calypso in the search engine for this site, I posted photos of her when she was younger.

Because of her colors she should to be Snow (Amel + Anery) plus paired with another trait(s) or line bred like the Aztec is so she can't be just an Aztec. :)

From my understanding Sunkissed is the only gene that sometimes allows abbarent belly checkers along with the Motley mutation. I've always been under the impression that Wide Stripe Aztec was named more for the visual of the dorsal. I don't think it's connected to Motley or Stripe genetically. The "Wide Stripe Aztecs" I've seen have belly checkers I believe.

If you want to prove her as a Motley or Stripe you'll need to test breed her. My opinion just looking visually is that the snake is not Motley or Stripe.

Beautiful second snake though! Hope you have better luck with this one than your last! It is true that sometimes they just don't make it. For the most part Corns are hardy though. Hope this girl grows up nice and strong for you. Also I like both the names Basil and Pandora. Very pretty. Keep us updated!

Here is some updated pics I took of Basil. I really love this little girl [emoji216]
