Petsmart & Petco

If anyone is a fan of the Okeetees, Chip (elrojo) has some of the best and most beautiful Okee stock you will find anywhere.

i must admit i built up an absolute hatred for the store 'petsmart 'when i watched an undercover documentary on cruelty to animals under their supervision. I have seen it first hand when i visited their stores to see dead fish in their tanks and animals looking most unhealthy. I am very fortunate as i live close to 'Stanley Aquatics' as great little shop in my home town liverpool they are great their stock are healthy and they have great herp supplies. I am very lucky to have access to all i need but i really feel that these organisitations such as 'petsmart' are badly treating animals of all kinds ts really upsetting.

personally, I NEVER shop at corporate stores and NEITHER SHOULD YOU!

avoid WalMart like the PLAGUE, unless of course you're planning on shoplifting... lol

these corporate nutjobs probably want to enslave us all in one way or another. why not support the little guy? sure it's a little more "expensive" but with gas going up the more control they get over oil, why give them more control over your pet supplies? the prices will just get higher and higher the less competition there is. if walmart was the only place in business, guess what? they'd RAISE THE F OUT OF THEIR PRICES!!!!

DOWN WITH CORPORATE TYRANNY!!!!

breed ur own live feeders, it's not hard, and you can really give em a good life before you feed em. snakes are a pretty compassionate killer, and one of the few animals (besides a lynx or other big cat... cheetah, yes!) that I wouldn't mind live feeding simply because the animal only suffers about the same amount that I do wrestling with people when I'm drunk, lol

it's alive... IT'S ALIVE!

No point in resurrecting an old thread like this. There are recent threads that discuss these points.

Yes, but now you've got more feed-dish lining material. :grin01:

I just got my set-up from Petsmart over the weekend, and I bought frozen pinkies from them. The freezer mostly contains brine shrimp, but there were little tubs of pinkies, fuzzies, and adults. So I guess as long as they're already dead...?

Some very old threads

AHHHH HELP!!!! I caught the hiaku bug!

Just bought 8 20 Gallon Long Aquariums on sale for $19.99 and got 10% off that for buying so many at one time. (Petsmart) If the local pet stores were as cheap as Petsmart I would buy from them.

Just to clear the air about PetSmart..............
We DO offer frozen mice for feeders, as well as rosey red minnows, comet goldfish, and crickets. We DO have snakes for sale in select stores.
We DO provide the BEST pet care to our knowledge, and sell pets to only the most knowledgeable Pet Parents. I, for one, will REFUSE to sell pets to people whom I think are a wrong match for the pets they want to buy, regardless of our profit.
Not all corporate run pet stores will do the same. It's up to the Pet Care Managers. Luckily, I AM one. If I feel that the pet is wrong for the prospective customer (Pet Parent, whatever) I WILL refuse to sell the pet to them. It's called responsibility. Pet stores need to think more about that than their profits. End of story..............

Geez, this is the second time this thread has been revived. It was revived before around post #33 . . . Its on it's third life :grin01:

this thread must have 9 lives...

there are so many threads about petco/petsmart...

i like petco/petsmart because they allow us to set up adoption booths to get animals out of the animal shelter!

as far as their stores...some are good some are bad. it all depends on the people running the joint.

and yes, they both sell frozen feeders for an arm and a leg. online retailers are MUCH cheaper even with shipping.

There is no way that I believe that you got 20 gallon reptile tanks from Petsmart for $19.99. Maybe a five gallon, but a 20g is more like $70.00.

This is obviously a 'Lazarous thread', or is it Promethian? destined to return again...................and again....................forever haunting this forum :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

i just spent about 15 minutes reading this too.......i think if you plan on breeding snakes like lots of them...its just worth it to breed your own mice and rats...and its not that hard if you ahve a good rack for them........i have a great pet store near were i live that sells just about everything....from mice less then a dollar to alligators.....sadly i will be moving and will probably have to get rid of my rat colony and go with rodentpro.com..........but seriously someone should either stop the hsus...or start something up thats against them....if there is something i dont know about it...and would like too

Well, there is PIJAC that I know helps politically defend our right to own snakes but otherwise I don't know much about them (new to the reptile politics thing).

Actually there was a sale by me at PetSmart on 20 gallon Long aquariums for 19.99 each (I know cause I bought one), this isnt with a lid or anything, its just the glass tank. Perhaps that is the case with the post you are referring to.

The screentop and clips were purchased seperately. Costing all together 30 something, which IS way cheaper than the $70 20L Critter Cages/Reptile Tanks that can be bought... which I have one for PHinius that I bought before I did a little bargin shopping ;)
