Hungry, hungry Hognose!
Well, it happened again! We went to the Unique Animal Expo last weekend with the mind set that we were not going to buy any more snakes. We didn't get to the show until late, 2 hours before they were to close and our only reason for even going was to just catch up with some friends and maybe purchase some supplies. Then I found him...
I knew at that point, my ambition of not buying any new snakes had gone down the drain as my wife has been wanting a pied marked like this for a long time. So, I called my wife over to show her what I had found, she took one solid look and gave me those sucker puppy dog eyes. Without her even having to ask, I just told her to go ahead and check him out and if he passed muster, he was hers.
What is kind of ironic is that her very first snake 15 years ago was a ball python who was extremely aggressive with her and yet totally passive with me, but having been bit by it, she gave him away and focused her energies on her sulcata. Now, we've come full circle 15 years later and she's got another ball python :spinner:
What was funny is how she ended up naming him. Personally, I think it's silly but I guess it's what I deserve. I was talking to my father that evening and telling him about her new snake when I was telling him how she normally picks fruity names for her snakes like Sherry and Berry and Sherbert and Sorbet and I jokingly said she needed to pick a masculine name like Conan or Brutus or something. And for whatever reason, she ended up sticking with Conan. Naturally I then had to rent Conan The Barbarian and made her watch it since she had never seen it
From what I was told from the seller, Conan originally belonged to Robert that runs the Reptile Geeks web site and was selling him for an insanely low amount to help raise funds for his site. So not only did we get an awesome snake at a killer price, we're helping out someone with a good cause
Anywho, here he is, Conan, in his full glory :dancer:
I just love the clean break of the coloring on pieds, it really trips me out...
