RED hypo

This female hypo motley was not the only hypo motley in the clutch, but it was the only red one. I unfortunately have no matching male for her so I'll probably be breeding her to one of my hypo motley male, which are from a completely separate line and hope they are the same type.

That is absolutely HOT!:flames:

:eek1: The adult looks more like a Fire than a Hypo! Sweeeeet snake!

Actually, I think this color would be absolutely stunning combined to the bloodred pattern. I'll be trying it out with a hypo male this season, or try to introduce this into my aztecs, some of which I know aren't het hypo. Maybe I'll get lucky and the hot red color will be hereditary... who knows. I think this would also look great with thick black oKeetee like borders ...

thanks for looking

Wow.... you weren't kidding when you said "RED hypo"!

May she give you many beautiful red babies.

Wow! What a snake! She's so non-orangey for a hypo.

Yes Roy, that's exactly what got my attention. I saw the snake while it was in shed, and still I begged (figure of peach) the owner to sell it to me. He had just bought it, but he prefers boids. When I contacted the breeder (hoping to pair it up), he said he had all of the siblings left. Unfortunately, when I saw them they where nothing like this gal, and he had only females. A few weeks down the road, I offered to purchase the parents (at least the dad) or any male sibling. But they both had died and all the babies were gone, he said. I believe one of the parents was anery.

Since the yellows and reds are in the same pathway, there always is a chance that this is due to a different enzyme malfunction, which would be sweet. But hey, it may also just be a fluke. :shrugs:

JFDery that is a killer hypo motley . For best results in producing more of this color you should breed her to her father. This way you have the same genes in the male .

Hello Vinman,

yes I know. But the breeder lost the parents, so I'll have to take the long route.

That snake is killer! some really nice red there...havent seen a hypo quite like it. Nice animal!

It's already been said, but...WOW!!

Testing her with another hypo motley is a good idea as I think there is something else going on. Next year, breeding her with a bloodred would be ideal. You'll have a better knowledge of what exactly you're dealing with from this year's offspring and if she is "just" a super red hypo motley, the potential F2 hypo motley bloodreds could be killer! Testing her with lava would be my next thought. I'm not sure if I've seen any examples of homozygous hypo A + homozygous lava, especially in combo with motley, but the hypothesis is intriguing enough to consider.

And I'm requesting being put on the waiting list for her babies.
