Roger Waters Concert

Abcat1993

Just a garter snake
Who's seeing it? He's touring all over the place, and I'm seeing the one near Chicago!!!!!!!

Go Pink Floyd!

David Gilmour gone solo does it for me. Mr Waters is a close second

Gilmour still sums up Pink Floyd for me. But whoever is going to that gig is lucky. I'd love to have seen them back in the day!

My dad was about to go to Australia or something a few years ago to see them both together. The albums with Gilmour were too 90ish for me [although I do like High Hopes, One Slip (really 90ish with the drum solo), and Sorrow].

IMO the Gilmour albums were much less psychedelic and a more mellow reminiscent of Floyd. On an Insland was sensational

Wait...which albums with Gilmour were too "90's"? Piper at the Gates of Dawn? Gilmour is an original "Floydian", having been there since day one.

Now, I'll grant you that "The Division Bell" was a step away from the 70's psychodelia, but you can't deny that Gilmour influenced every musical movement they ever made from day one. Syd Barrett would have been nothing without David Gilmour to mellow out his psychotic lyrics.

Everything that Gilmour has done with the band since Roger Waters left still is very reminiscent of the original Pink Floyd, in my ever so humble opinion.

I'd even go so far as to say that Roger Waters would have failed miserably on both Dark Side of the Moon AND The Wall, had Gilmour not been such a unifying thread throughout both albums. Without Gilmour's voice and guitar technique giving the albums a sense of "grounded in reality" melody, both of those albums would have been too far over the top for even devout Floyd fans, I believe. Waters is almost as far out there as Barrett was, and gilmour keeps them both on track...musically. It is always gilmour as the voice of reason, both musically and voaclly, IMO.

I saw Floyd play at Giant's Stadium during their Division Bell tour. The band was in incredible form, and I didn't miss Roger Waters one bit, though I admit that it would be nice to see a reunion tour show...

Sorry I meant the albums without Waters. Personally, I also like Roger Water's voice better (he's just one of those voices you don't forget, or atleast I don't). I have to admit though, Syd Barrett wrote and sang some STRANGE songs.

Was it Waters and Gilmour? When was the last time Syd Barrett sang on tour? Didn't he die a couple years ago?

$5.00 and $8.50??? I was gonna say, man you got ripped off, but then I saw the tax was included. Would have hated to see you get raked over the coals.

I really didn't expect more than two people to like Pink Floyd, let alone two pages of people in a few hours who have gone to the old concerts.

Syd has been "out of the band" for a long time. Both Waters and Gilmour are original members, if I am not mistaken. I believe the promo flyer for "Piper at the Gates of Dawn" features all three...Barrett, Gilmour, and Waters. I could be wrong, though.

If you want a sample of Syd Barrett at his kookiest...check out the UmmaGumma album. There is some wierd stuff going on there...One toke over the line, at times..."Several Species of Small, Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving with a Pict". It will change your life...j/k;).
