Rosie is growing!

I agree, you are a very awesome and responsible owner. Rosie is very lucky to have you. Great pics!

This morning has dawned as a beautiful sunny day, so after work I took Rosie out for her run. After she'd zoomed around greeting her friends ( I think there were at least 8 dogs we know out for their exercise today) I spotted a kestrel hunting over the long grass where the skylarks nest. In fact I'm convinced it was hunting out the nestlings, because the skylarks were trying to mob it.

What a lovely place to be on a sunny weekend morning! Sounds like Rosie had a good time and so did you watching the Kestrel :)

Today after I finished work, after a quick change we went along to join the Great British Greyhound Walk, run by the Retired Greyhound Trust. Being on best behaviour amongst 100 or so dogs and walking sensibly was difficult for Rosie, she did well but 2 hours of slow walking was really not her thing!
Afterwards she had the chance to let off steam and enjoy herself being silly.

My friend Cathy has completed the first leg of what I refer to as her 'dog-bothering' course. She's training to be a canine massage therapist and Rosie has been helping her via my library of photos of her in various gaits. She loves the relaxation massages Cathy gives her, but when I mentioned she seemed a bit stiff after Sunday's long walk she got a proper sports massage on Monday and was absolutely in heaven!

I've learnt a new skill now! Rosie doesn't shed at all but her coat had 'blown', with long dead hair that needed to come out. The local dog groomers doesn't do hand-stripping, the within local distance visiting groomers don't either, and shaving a broken-coated dog can ruin their coat.
So I read a few website 'how-to' instructions, watched some you-tube, and away we went. Rosie thought this new game was hilarious, the dead hair came out with no effort but must have tickled her because she was in transports of delight and leaping all over me. So I kept the sessions short and over 3 days this is the result, a smoother, neater Rosie in her summer coat!

The heat has been taking it's toll on Rosie, by the time I've got in from work in the morning it's been in the 30s. So today with spitting rain and fresher air she had a lovely run.

Up early this morning to take Rosie for a good long walk down to the estuary. She needed no encouragement to go in the water to cool down. A walk through the scrubland areas found that the wild yellow plums are fruiting heavily, so I picked a few pounds of fruit while Rosie laid in the shade and ate rabbit poop.

Then we met up with some friendly dogs we've met down there before, so there was mad dashing through the bushes before we got the dogs to all settle and have a drink. Walking off along the shoreline we met a young lurcher bitch that Rosie had a great time playing with in the water.
Tons of butterflies on the wing, including this peacock.
Further along the shoreline I found my first ever adder. It was dead and stank terribly, so I managed to resist bringing it home to study. At least I know I've been looking in the right places for the live sighting I crave!

She is so pretty, and looks like a dog that will do anything!
Thanks! The one thing she shows no interest in so far is what she was bred for............she ignores rabbits! Actually she has now given chase once, so she may earn her supper one day!

Today was Rosie's first time I'd say she went into full hunting mode! There were plenty of rabbits about and after a few hesitant starts rosie gave chase properly 5 or 6 times. She was foiled by the rabbit burrows being just under the blackberry bushes, but I told her what a clever girl she was for trying.
We stayed out quite late, until the clouds were closing down and threatening rain.

I love seeing the pics of your walks with Rosie and I really really like that last shot! :)
Thanks Sue! My cankle is still swelling up after long walks, so Rosie's getting more lead walks with the boys in between our trips out together, but I need my trips out along the river as much as she does! I love the way the light was shining through the clouds on that last picture

I love it when the light does that through the clouds, but I live in such a built up area and don't get out as much as I would like, that I refrain from trying to take pics of it when I see it. It's great when someone else posts pics for me to enjoy though :)

The first and the last pic are awesome, especially the last one!
Thanks, it was just a lucky shot, I only took one photo of the sky and it came out ok! The estuary is starting to turn into a tidal river where we walk, so it's still quite a wide, flat area with the light reflecting off the water and bouncing off clouds so you get some nice effects there.:)
