Rosy or just a banded Motley?

Looks to be banded, but hard to say if it's banded motley. Are there belly checks present? If not...I would hazard to say banded motley. If there are belly checks present, than I would say simply banded.

That doesn't mean it can't be an upper keys. Banded is in referance to the pattern only, and is a line-bred look, like Aztec, not a single recessive, like motley. I'm not familiar enough with the rosy or upper keys localities to provide a reasonable opinion on either of them...

i see what you mean with the bands but the could just be nice patterned uppers they definitely look like nice upper keys to me but maybe there a cross from a banded ?

Thx for your fast replies!
Try to post a pic of this years hatchlings from
the same parents as the 07 i will get!

Careful. Lots and lots of locality Rosy "ratsnakes" (aka Key Cornsnakes) have patternless ventrals...kinda like a "dirty" motley. That snake kinda has the color of a rosy, but I've seen some "rootbeer or cinnamon motlies" with very similar looks. Except for the hypothetical patternless ventral scales, I've even seen some hypo corns (with a lot of Rosy blood in them - or even a group of F1 rosy x classic corn) with a similar coloration; and I've seen non-motlies with that pattern (SMR line for example), too. Anyone that looks at that one image I just saw and says they KNOW EXACTLY what the snake is.....well, I'd suggest you not believe them to much.

Post an image of the baby in less harsh light. It could be a typical Rosy, but it looks a little off in terms of color. Rosy rats, however, are rather variable in the wild - especially as you move down the line of keys.
