show banded king pictures

Regular banded cali king. I picked this girl because he pattern is very uniform. I also like that her bands are very similar in width. She is without a doubt one of the more *cough* lively snakes in my collection, but is also one of my favorite to photograph.

Here's a couple of Lydia. She doesn't have perfect banding. I could have bought a sibling with perfect banding, but she was more calm. WAS more calm. Take her out lately and she'll rattle her tail, tail whip, fling musk, bite, and then calm down only to suddenly jump out of your hands. She's not much bigger yet because she just will not eat.

And what would a banded king picture topic be without the presence of a couple grey bands?

Here is Blair and Spot:

Here's a picture of a banded male Cali that I gave to a young kid that wanted a snake. He was a w/c Inyo County, CA locality boy, and he was a GREAT snake. Makes a fantastic pet for the young man, now, and I can always go out and catch another one this summer...since i live in Inyo County, CA...;)

I must admit to being jealous that you can find THAT little boy in the wild over there. Hmph.

I need to move.

Actually...there is a comparatively large wild population of hypomelanistic banded Calis that live in this area. Several have been found within 20 miles of my front door...

That little guy in the picture above was found walking along a canal that is a 3 minute drive from my house, and just off of the main road. I've also found 7foot + gopher snakes wandering the banks. The canal holds some pretty decent browns and large mouth bass, as an added bonus. I used to live close enough that I could look out the window of my fly tying room to see what was hatching, but moved about 2 years ago...:grin01:

Of course...if I'm not mistaken...I DID propose to you not long ago...;)
