Skin flakes..?

So I checked on my snake today and I noticed that he had a bunch of little flakes of skin all over him. They look like the skin that comes off when he sheds, but they're still stuck on him. Some flakes are just the size of scales, some are a little longer than that, and a couple are about 1cm big. I tried soaking him in some water, and some of the flakes were able to peel off, but I didn't want to hurt him. I started to think that they might not be left over from his last shed, but maybe the starting of a new shed.. But probably not. Should I try soaking him again and try to get all the flakes off this time? I'm worried about hurting him by pulling off skin that could be not ready to come off.
Btw he didn't eat when I tried feeding him this week. He looked like he was going to but he just moved the pinky out onto his substrate and left it.

whats the humidity like in the viv? sounds like a bad shed....you can take a damp washcloth and let him slither through it a few times, see what comes loose. also bump up the humidity in the tank for a while. the bath was a good idea and could probably be repeated.

ah...i see. Well, you'll probably want to find out about the humidity soonish. I wouldnt pull on the skin. My money is on the humidity.

Reptile humidity gauges can be bought at pet stores for relatively little money. They have a series of numbers (mine goes from 0 - 100) that give an idea of the humidity inside the tank. Corn snakes need between 55 and 70 humidity in their tank, on the higher end before/during a shed. Without a water dish/misting, my house usually hovers around the 40's, but covering part of the screen with plastic wrap and cardboard helps trap a lot of moisture in.

bad sheds arent too big a deal, but there are a couple things to watch out for. make sure the eye caps come off, and make sure the tail end comes off...either one staying stuck could be kind of serious. i guess just keep checking your snake all over very carefully.
