Slitting Eggs?

They take so long to come out because they're slitting them a full week or two before they're ready to pip on there own!

I don't know about balls - but I remember in 1986 the East Bay Vivarium bred their burm. They allowed the mother to incubate the clutch (something it seems almost no one does anymore) - and when it came time to hatch, she moved - and it took about three days from pip to hatch. I remember it so well because two of those baby burms were mine.

I can't imagine it being much different for balls that are allowed to hatch on their own.

Does anyone slit eggs that have incubated beyond 60 days. I know there was just a thread of pips at day 81, my clutch is at day 71 and while I am 80% sure I would not slit them to see what's going on. Are there corn snake breeders that slit say at day 75 or 80?????

What are your temps Susan? Cooler eggs take longer to incubate.
I don't think I've had one clutch hatch in 60 days - 70 is more the norm with 72 or 73 being typical. It really depends on a lot of factors but I think a clutch hatching in just 60 days is more the exception (at least here) than the rule. I incubate at 82 - 84 degrees.

Oh! man color me stupid. I think I need a keeper lately. Two days ago I left my keys in the strawberry plants tore the house apart the next looking for them.

LOL Susan I am going to buy you one of those keychains that beeps when you whistle.
At 80 your eggs might take a bit longer, I am not sure exactly how long but maybe someone on here has a better idea on how long eggs take at different temps.
