i have an adult corn snake and he started getting dark and getting the "blue" in his eyes so i held off on feeding him cuz hes never that interested in food when he is ready to shed. well its been 2 weeks now and for the past 6 days he has buried himself under the substrait (or whatever you call it) and has not moved an inch. i thought he was dead so i dug up the stuff and touched him and he jerked so he is alive but why is he being so weird all of a sudden? i dont want him to die.

They want to be left alone and quiet while they are in blue. He should be fine. How are your temps?

Since it's an adult, I would just pick him up and handle him to see if he alright.
He should be but it would ease your mind.

My corn chill out while in the shed process. I never counted day tho.

temps are good. 80 on one side room temp on the other. i never go above 80 cuz he hates it. he will just stay to one side all the time then.

Well did he shed yet? He isn't going to move until the day he clears and comes out to shed. All you can do is wait. If you start to worry, just stick your finger in to where he's buried and he will move and you can be assured that he is alive and fine.

If I am concerned that one of my snakes is having a difficult (prolonged as well) shed then I usually give them a nice warm swim. If the area you live in is especially arid (and it extends into your house) sometimes they can have a hard time getting the shed to come off. I have a few snakes that need a little extra 'help' getting their shed off once in a while, as it can get extremely dry inside of my house (gas heating), even with a humidifier. The moisture from the water helps loosen and slough off the skin (I've witnessed more then once my snake immediately shed within 5 minutes after a warm 15 minute swim/bath). I usually make and maintain the water in the 'swim' bucket around 85 degrees but since you said your little one prefers 80, I would make it around that temp if you choose to put him in water. Ensure that the water isn't too deep too :)

now about the water bath thing. how do YOU get the water to a perfect 80/85 degrees. and what do you use to check the temp.

I use a Thermal Gun! I love it, worth every penny and I use it constantly on my snakes. I just add a bit of warm water off and on to maintain temperature.

Turn on the tap, how do you get hot water for a shower? :p

I measured with one of my probe thermometers the first few times to get the feel of what's too hot/too cold. Lukewarm water that's borderline room temperature is usually about right.

well luckycharm..........i was told not to use "tap" water cuz of the chemicals the city puts in the water.

You are going to get a million and one answers about what kind of water is ok for your snake, what do you give it to drink? I use tap water. I usually let it sit overnight, but if it was a choice of having the snake go without or giving them water, I'd just go straight from the tap. No problems yet. Its up to you, but take all advice with a grain of salt.
I was bathing my bp once a night for a while because of medical stuff, and was using tap water. She didnt seem to mind, and the vet didnt mention not to use tap water.

All that aside, I'm sure your snake will shed fine, just let him do his thing. I've not seen Lucy (the bp) for two weeks by her choice. I've hauled her out for visits, but other than that, she hides under a rock. Same for my youngest corn...they're just lazy. :p

i use tap water for my snake most of the time she doesnt care one bit if its tap or if its filtered she is actually more active when i give her tap rather than filtered

The use of tap water depends on the water treatment process in your area. If your water is heavily chlorinated or florinated, these chemicals can have an effect on the gut flora of your snake. There are water conditioners you can buy at your local pet store that instantly treats the water. ZooMed's "ReptiSafe" and ExoTerra's "AquaSafe" are both good conditioners and inexpensive. (approx. $7.00 for an 8 oz. bottle)
As far as your snake not moving while in blue, I consider that a normal behaviour.
