A couple friends stopped by yesterday. They'd never been to my house, just drove by and saw me leaving to go to Home Depot. So they had to come get a Herp Tour. Why are snakes so different than usual when you have other people around? I show them Choco, my favorite, who proceeds to rattle and musk. (But I knew she would do that- she always does that for company). Janine and Cali were jumpy but ok. Ruby gave an excellent biting demonstration. Jake, who I think may be blue, musked the most he ever has. Zee was a good boy.

Then I got out Cherry, who came out to see what the commotion was all about. (Inspector Cherry!) She immediatly went to my friend Rob and curled around his neck and through his sunglasses in a very forward way, and explored all over him, and made him fall in love with her at first sight. She then went over to his wife Velvet, who has NEVER held a snake, and cuddled with her, before returning to her true love, Rob. Rob says "I don't understand why this one isn't your favorite!" (I've just had Chocolee two years longer, and raised her from a baby, and she's super-cool but won't be her normal self in front of strangers). He must have held her for 30 minutes. He said, "If you ever have to get rid of your snakes, I'll take this one!" I sure love my Cher-Bear; what a good girl!

My question is more along the lines, Would anybody stopping to visit ask to see your "insert any other fuzzy animal here." My neighbors always request tours of the herps I keep. I feel think the local zoo sometimes. I oblige where I can, especially with the kids in the neighborhood. Maybe Choco is putting on a show to impress her visitor. Kinda like,"Meet the Amazing Choco most feared snake." "She musks, she rattles, be warned!" I mean honestly, what self-respecting snake wants to be known in the "Hood" as cuddly?:) The neighborhood mice might try to take advantage!

Great story Nanci. Just think if you ever want to get rid of company you can always let them hold Choco and Jake and let them "stink" the company out of the house...lol. You can always do what we have decided when people want to see your collection.........charge addmission. ;) :grin01:

Sorry to hear Choco doesn't agree with company..but I do agree with your friend..Cherry does look like a very sweet snake :)
 
:My guy was the same way when the kids that live next door would want to see him at first. (they are 3,4 and 6) now he's fine with them being around and touching him, and trust me they are around alot! and now that im getting a ball next weekend im sure they will be around even more! :sidestep:

but i guess it is a good thing that they are into snakes and not scared of them, accually lots of my friends are scared of my little snake dont know why. :shrugs:
