Snakes at a party!

airenlow

hope is not a strategy
So I just found out my roommates are having a party on Saturday. My issue is that the snake's viv is only about 10 feet away from the speaker that they will be blasting all night. What are some of my options? I was going to cut one of the wires to the speaker...that would solve all my problems! If I move the viv it will still be within 20 feet of the thing. I'm open to suggestions, except the "don't have a party" option. I live with 3 girls so I'm outnumbered 3-1 when it comes to these situations.:headbang:Thanks for your help!

All of this was based on my thought that the extreme bass would mess with the snake. If it won't then let me know and I'll just forget the whole thing:)

Base = Vibrations = Disturbed snake ;)

Is 20 feet the maximum you can make it? Can you not move the vivarium to a room that isn't going to be used? When we used to have parties we'd have one room locked up with valuables/breakables in it. I wouldn't have thought theres anything you can do if you can't move it.

I know in the past people have suggested using a towel to cushion the viv a bit and cut down on the vibrations... You could also put the snake in a temporary setup (critter keeper, whatever) and move it as far as possible from the noise. It might even be an option to have it "sleep over" at a friend's house that night. I honestly think that having the bass pounding away will be more stressful than a change of scenery.

And if all else fails you could just call the cops on your own party. :grin01:

for one night? Get a sterilte or rubbermaid bin, drill some holes, stick in some paper towel and a hide or two, put your heat mat under and stick him in you're room. It can be small - he won't care for one night. And hey now you have a carrying bin too if you ever need it.

you know i never even thought about this before...would stereo/amp disturb the snake that much? the only reason i ask is because similar to the stereo situation, i have an assortment of guitar amps in my room that i play regularly...i never noticed my snakes seeming to mind but i was just curious if the vibrations or anything could cause any health problems (like excessive stress leading to other problems)?

Thanks for the replies everybody!

My room is just off of the living room so 20 ft is the max...the rest of the house is fair game for partygoers.

I do have a critter keeping that I could use. But I think I would rather call the cops on them! NOT KIDDING EITHER:dgrin:

If you're going to move him, I'd hold off on feeding him from Thursday on.
He just ate today, so we should be good to go.

We have parties all the time. Most of the time the Bass isn't too much of a problem for the snakes but there are those moments. I moved them two rooms away from the subwoofer.

Now the birds have to suffer! Agh... too small of a house!

Good Luck
