So is the new server holding up OK?

When I tried to move some of my other sites over to this server back at the beginning of January, it was a disaster! The server was dying a couple of times a day on me. The hosting people believe they got in a bad batch of RAM, and that was causing all my problems. Since I got it back from their rebuild on the 14th of January, it seems to be running pretty much rock solid for me.

So if you all notice any quirks, please let me know. I might not be online at that moment to catch something like a warning signal.

Someone said this site seems a little faster on the new server. Anyone else seeing this? It seems so to me, but it just might be wishful thinking on my part. It SHOULD be faster, but I think the network connection would have more of a bearing than the actual hardware of the server. But heck, maybe it IS faster!

That would be nice thing to have a PLEASANT surprise for a change!

Everything seems fine to me
And yeah, it does seem like it's running faster because the pages are loading more quickly and everything

Ya, I was finally able to access it last night! Looks like I made it. :D I noticed that the pics in your photo gallery come up faster, which is very nice!

Looks good, I definitely think it is running faster. One thing though, I think the link you had from the Serpenco main page to your photo gallery might be broken, it isn't working for me.

Hmm, I'll take a look at that link. I think I moved the link to point to the photo gallery I have on this site, so I might have missed one somewhere.

Thanks for letting me know.

Everything seems to be working OK, seems about the same speed for me, but my computer isn't exactly "top of the line".

One weird thing did just happen. I viewed this post and originally didn't feel like replying. I clicked my "BACK" button at the upper left corner, it returned me to the main screen, but had failed to bring up everything past 1/24/03! All the last post dates, etc said 1/24 or earlier, it said my last visit was 1/24 (I was on last night), etc. I clicked my "REFRESH" button, and everything came back to today. WEIRD ! I can't say if it was my computer, the server, program, or what. Just thought you might like to know.

Rich,
All Seems to be running fine, I'm sitting on the cutting edge of the PC world, --my second love after reptiles. unfortunatley DSL is not available in the middle of nowhere and I'm not paying for what the satelite DSL wants--damn them! They think there special, all I need is access to a solid rocket fuel--I'd have my own satelite. my dial up connection seems to be about the same as the old server---NO problems!..............................................................................................except for that darn Amel Stripe, he does not like mice..............................................only LIZARDS!

Rich,
This is getting really weird ! It did the exact same thing again...same date, same time (not the current), etc. I did notice that at least this thread was still present when I checked before hitting Refresh. If this turns into another Groundhog Day, I'm going to bed and not getting up...ever.

Susan,

Offhand I would say it is a caching problem, either with your browser or with your ISP. What appears to be happening is that when you hit that BACK button, you are going back to my old server. Wherever that link is cached, it is probably using the IP address rather than the domain address to reference this site.

Most browsers have a utility to delete the files in your cache. I recommend that you do that and see if it corrects this problem.

Thanks.

BTW, did Mike contact you about sending out that Caramel Motley on Monday?

Rich,

It doesn't happen all the time, and I'm getting a new computer in a week or so, plus a new internet service and e-mail address (at least for awhile...until the free 6 mo is up), so I'll just leave things the way they are for now...enough head-aches coming as it is.

And yes, Mike notified me about the Mon ship date. My parents will be around to accept delivery on Tues and bring my new welcome addition into the house. I have several lovely ladies who'll be perfect for him next spring! And if the odds are in my favor, some butter motley stripes will hatch out in 2004! At least some caramel motley stripes.
