Something about Saddles

Hello peeps,

During today's handling session I was watching my Amel
and I was wondering…
she has 3 saddles that are different.
Is this just an irregularity of saddle-forms? or what?

It looks like you held her too close to a heat source and she melted a little. I think that falls under the 'normal abnormality' category.

So you'd call that irregularity aberrant. Might even call it zigzag, although it isn't perfect. My Lila only has three normal saddles (zigzag is really common in lavs) and my Cali King Choco is totally aberrant.

Here's weird Choco. I've never seen a corn with splits down the middle like Choco has- that woud be something. This should be a cream colored snake with dark, even bands.

I don't know how others feel, but to me, an aberrant snake, or one with zigzag or aztec is highly desireable- the more, the better!

I hope this posts.
This is my soon-to-be new girly Vadalia.
Dean (aka Roy Munson) took the pic.

It didn't post, but her picture is in the photo gallery under "Son and Daughters of Vlad".

Didn't thought it was something "special" :)
Just wondered..

Nice lav btw, Nanci.

Thank you! No, I think even the slightest amount of zigzag/aztek is special.

Luckily, the pic of Vadalia didn't work, so I won't have to be ripping my eyeballs out in jealousy, because she is the most beautiful lav of all time...

I didn't phrase it right. Ofcourse it's special, it's my snake :)
(her background is becoming more and more orange - love it)

What I meant to say, was it's not some pattern like motley or melted (Merlinspop's idea )

Nice pattern on Vadalia. Love to see how she evolves.

Is this what you mean by a corn with splits down the middle? This guy hatched out in 2005, but he passed away in 2006.

That's a beauty! To me, that looks like a stripe with a "white" line down the middle. But he's checkered, so not a stripe- is that just really extreme Aztek?? That's so sad he didn't make it.

Look at Choco, right down from his neck, and then he has another patch of it down by his tail. What do you think caused that? He should have been banded, if he was normal.

It's cool to read in Cornsnake Morph Guide about the migration of cells and how the patterns are created.
