It doesn't change the validity of MY OPINION that you would have been better off waiting a while to get this snake.

I love how someone advises him that he should have waited, and he gets all defensive....however when he tried to tell someone on another thread that she "should have waited to get a 'hot'"...she took it in stride and just went on with her life...

Not to mention the fact that this someone else that he was trying to give advice to had much much MUCH more experience than he.

I just don't get it.... :shrugs::shrugs::shrugs:

I know people told me to wait but there is a profound difference between King Rat Snakes and eyelash vipers.

I'm curious why people that don't agree with you are "intraweb people", and people that agree with you are experts?

I don't care what 500 breeders tell you to your face. I trust what I know about the scientific research that has been done on the species as a whole. This research supports my earlier advice.

I'll say it again...you are doing well with the snake and the snake is responding, for now, in a docile manner. Good for you. Good for the snake. Good luck and congratulations.

It doesn't change the validity of MY OPINION that you would have been better off waiting a while to get this snake. That is still good advice, and is still an opinion based on founded research on this species. It's also still how I feel. I'm just waiting for your "Help Me" topic on this snake...

I never said your husbandry was beyond help...I said it should be better, and that you displayed questionable practices in your videos. That is true and valid. I also never said that you would never be able to handle this snake. I said I didn't think you were ready for it yet. That is STILL how I feel, and is still a valid and research-based opinion.

I don't really care if you don't like it or don't agree with it. That's fine. But you needn't keep throwing it in my face. Have some humility and modesty. I don't continually remind you of things you have said in the past, and I do my level best to move beyond what happened "back then". You should, too...
What is the worst case scenario, if this snake is aggressive as a very large adult?

I know people told me to wait but there is a profound difference between King Rat Snakes and eyelash vipers.
This is what I'm thinking..... People get all sorts of snakes that interest them, irrespective of 'special' housing techniques...

Not really the point, if you ask me. I don't base my opinions on the "worst case scenario". I base them off of the research I've done. Worst case scenario?? The snake dies from poor husbandry after a long and painful existence in sub-par conditions by a person that cannot handle the animal. I don't believe fatality of bite or potential for envenomation should be the only concern when deciding which snakes to get...

There is also a profound difference between a 15 year old with 6 years experience, and a 30-something with 15-20 years experience, wouldn't you agree?

My husbandry is the same way the breeder told me to use. She has been breeding for a long long time

I can't argue that a slow death because of bad husbandry is the worst thing, but that wasn't ever mentioned....
David was warned against it because of aggression... So whats the worst that can happen?
I believe David when he says he has researched and been to see the breeders, what more can any of us do?
And a 15 yo with 6 yrs experience is a 30 yo with 20 yrs experience in the making... ;) :)

Exaxtally I read 3 books talked to about 6 breeders, Talked to and got hands on work with my buddys 20 year old male king rat

I agree with you on all points. I believe David did his research, too. I just don't like that he tries to use it to "prove me wrong" when in reality...I am not wrong.

And more than just sheer aggresion was mentioned in "that thread". Size, caging, space, moving when he turns 18, odor, and his younger siblings were all mentioned as potential concerns as well.

And I absolutely agree with the last line of your post. However, young David does not recognize that there is still a difference between the two. Yes...he will one day have enough experience and knowledge to rival any one of us. But right now he does not...and continually tries to assert himself as if he does.

Maybe someone should start a "David vs. The World" social group so that the main forum can be buffered against this constant bickering.

I thought you said member critisism is something to be avoided. I am trying my hardest to do better an I am still yelled at I do listen can we just back on topic

You talking to me? I don't care about criticism as long as site rules aren't broken. It's all about the site rules. It's all about the site rules. Its all...

I got to agree with you because you are more right than wrong more often... LOL
Remember when we were 15, nothing was too hot or too heavy... 10ft tall and bullet proof, thats how my mom described me.....
DYK I think David really likes you and is trying to earn your respect...
I don't believe he is being hostile or know it all, just trying to show you he needs to be noticed... I hope that made sense

It's either this or DYK......:nyah:

The worst case scenario is a 9 foot aggresssive snake that I need a hook for

LOL you have never worked with a 9 foot snake that will need a hook. Its not an easy task and not very fun. I don't like doing it.

The thing I worry about David is that you are at that age that can take on anything. I was there as well and learned from my mistakes and so will you.

The main concern I have is in about 3-4 years when you want to go away for college or get your own place. Not to many apartment buidings allow people to have snakes. Basically you can get evicted if you get caught with them.

Member criticism is a vital part of this community...as long as rules are followed.

And try to remember that I didn't even respond to this topic until you quoted me as an example of "intraweb people" that don't know what they're talking about... In more strict forums, this would be known as "baiting" and potentially flaming...you know...trying to start an argument by intentionally illiciting a response from me in an effort to "prove" me "wrong"...

I mean a thread created about a certain members criticism. I am not gonna debate it any longer. It not like I ran out and borught a friggin retic or burm. Or a god knows what! Can we please go back to the topic

You guys, don't you think maybe David's just saying so far, against all odds, little Jasmine is an angel of a snake, and he is enjoying her very much, and can't we just be happy for him instead of being all doom and gloom? There will be plenty of time to say we told you so if she turns evil. Can't you just let him be proud of his snake?
