Listing what is or isn't allowed to be said on this forum is a large gray area whose boundaries have changed over the years. But I'll say this...if it's something you wouldn't say to your significant other's Grandmother, don't say it here.

Good points, Susan. Still, I'm not above the rules. If whiny bitches report my posts, I need to be held accountable. Like them, I will still probably require a dozen or more warnings before my actions force real consequences. I can accept that. I request that you give me actual infraction points, so that the whiny bitches (oops; there I go again) will keep their mouths shut regarding fairness and mod exemption. (And I'm still going to give you a BIG hug when I see you in Daytona this weekend).

No hugs unless you bring enough for everyone. Wait. Never mind. Bad visual imagery!

I'd give you a big, hetero-hug as well, KJ. But if I detect a concealed weapon, I'll have to go Bruce Lee on your &$$ (despite my actual incapability, lol) .

Finaly. Nearly all forums I frequent have pretty strict no politics or religion rules. It just leads to problems IMO.

LOL. Don't check then, right?

I believe politic is still an acceptable topic - we just need to discuss them a little more adult-like..............

No! We don't want to get rid of the political, religious, etc, discussions - as long as they are mature and civil. Some of my most enjoyable time here has been discussing those subjects. MOST of the time, MOST of the participants can have great, insightful observations to offer. Sometimes, it even opens somebody's eyes to a new perspective - sometimes even me! I think that is great!

True, such discussions are easy to devolve into emotional arguments and name calling, if we are not careful enough. But on those occasions when we have a had a long, mature, and fruitful discussion of such subjects, I am really proud to be a part of such a great community!

Don't worry Deano no whiny biotching from me or otherwise antagonitic remarks some of us are a little thin skinned;)

I agree, I enjoy civil, thoughful discussions on heavy topics like religion and politics. They are often great learning opportunities for all parties involved. Learn something about yourself, about other people, about the world around you.

Dean, if I ever make it to Daytona, can I get a big ol hetero hug as well? And, you can try to go bruce lee, but well lets just say, bruce's pecs were not bullet proof. LOL.

Ditto for me on what ZoologyGirl and Kathy said.

I can be a little opinionated but try not to curse and name-call, though I may have had a slip up in the past. If I slip up I will accept my due punishment.

I participate on four forums regularly but this is by far my favorite and it is because of the diversity of folks here, that bring challenging topics to discuss.

One thing that many people remember, but is a must, is that you should not attack people (name calling), you should attack ideas. If everyone could adhere to that simple rule, then we would be great, unfortunately, a couple (few) members have trouble comprehending what is said and they think that it is a personal attack, and thus respond with a personal attack. Thus is life.

I agree with Kathy, ZoologyGirl and tsst, as well. I, too enjoy a good debate. They are usually healthy and fun, as long as they don't get personal. I don't judge or dislike people, because of their ideas or beliefs. They are entitled to that. Besides, that's just being shallow or simple minded.

I have firm political beliefs. Which are the exact opposite of what I was raised on and they make family get togethers interesting. I chose to escape the mold and listen to all sides, ask questions, listen to answers, look at facts and formulate my own opinion based on my own personal values. So I have a passion about politics that some people, don't understand or agree with. That doesn't mean that I have to dislike them or attack them. Just that I disagree!

Remember, attack ideas, not people, and be civil about it!

Good Post! You got it up, before I could finish typing!

Just so I'm clear on my genetics here... If two people give each other hetero hugs, does that mean that it should result in 25% homo hugs in the future?

As for the political stuff, I agree and will take responsibility and use proper discretion next time. Some may say there are only a couple or a few violators (wonder why?), but that is a discussion that's not worth having. Some people like to think they don't make personal attacks, but that is for the receiving party to decide. And maybe they just don't realize that attacking Obama personally will create equal offensiveness, so they don't see where the backlash is coming to.
I enjoy the relevant political and religious topics, those mostly started by the more thought provoking members of the board such as Kathy, Wade, and Tom E. But sometimes someone will take a good discussion and mar it with anti Obama sentiments. I do very much like Obama, but do not like to be called Socialist, Communist, or a blind supporter because of it. When the discussion is based simply on ideas I tend to learn a lot, even from those who I would have otherwise firmly disagreed with. When the health care discussion turned back on track I really learned a lot, and it was the type of discussion that might further change my political identity.

If you guys really want to talk politics and religion maybe there should be a topic specifically for it. Alot of forums that I frequent that DO allow it, have a topic just for it. Minimal moderation, and a disclaimer not to enter if you are thin skinned.
