"Striking" ATB photography

Pragmatic & Logical
Bill spent the weekend with another photographer, using a bunch of high speed, stop action photo equipment. They got some really cool rattlesnake and cottonmouth photos, and I let them play with my little Amazons too. They are my '07 keepers - yellow female and orange male. They are actually pretty tame - had to tease them a little to get them to perform.

FABULOUS shots! I love the colours on the second snake.

And look at the teeth on them... do ammie bites hurt?

Great shots!!!

I love the "pose" in the first one, and the snake's colors in the second one.

I like the look in the eyes of the first one. He's like "C'mere and get what's comin' to ya!"

Those shots made my day. Also made me afraid of amazons. They look like they could zap you from across the room. They have never-ending coils.

Wow! Great shots Kathy! Be sure and let Bill know his photography skills are top notch.

Are you the one off stage with the cattle prod?:grin01:

They way they tilt their heads to the sides gives the impression that they quite enjoy biting things!

Gorgeous shots!

DANG KATHY (and Bill :) )! Those shots are FANTASTIC.

Although remind me never to tick one of those guys off... they look pointy. ;)

Great job guys!
Ok Kathy you've sold me. ATB is officially on my list of new acquisitions to look for at the next show!

Excellent shots.....What type of camera was used? And what shutter speeds were being used? And was it a burst of shots to capture it striking? And what lighting (if any) was used? And......So many questions, and so little space to ask them....LOL

sometimes EXIF can be misleading, but here's the info straight from the pics. I'm wondering if high-speed flash hacks were being used (as can be done with some nikon units) or what... Does look like at least two light sources were being used (primarily overhead) and some fill cards as well

Whats EXIF?
And where the hell did you see all this info on the pics......
Oh and thanks for the reply, Nikon seem to be a good choice of camera.....LOL

Wow! That's lots of info, lol! More than I knew. Jerry was Bill's photo partner. They used Jerry's camera because it was set up for the special high speed stuff. I am just a spectator, and snake supplier, haha! Can't give you specifics. But if any photo bugs want to call Bill to discuss it, you can get him at 239-691-4414 until tomorrow afternoon. Then he is off to Long Island, NY to be their speaker this week. If any of you live up there, stop by the meeting Fri and the spring festival on the weekend to see one or both of his presentations.

"a 2 sec exposure??? IMO that would result in a blur not such a crisp shot."

I know they used a very dark room and held the shutter open. They had a trip beam that set off the flash when the snake crossed the beam.

Hope that helps explain it.
