Sunkissed, are there 2 types? Please post pics of yours!

Cohabbing is cruelty...
I have noticed that most sunkisseds that I have seen look almost like really red normals, with wonderful head patterns and rather blocky saddles.

This is Gus, a sunkissed boy that I am getting from PJC Reptiles. He was originally bred by Kathy Love and is around 10 years old. I saw his pic and fell totally in love with him! This picture was taken off the PJC reptiles website, but this boy will be suffering through a photoshoot soon after his arrival at my house. I love how his saddle color and background color are the same, with just thin black saddle borders and a patternless head.

Are there 2 types of sunkisseds, the ones that look almost normal and the ones that look like Gus? Please post pics, I would love to see them!

There seem to be different variations of Sunkissed, some have a hypomelanistic look while some only show the different pattern.

Susan, your sunkisseds are beautiful, and were what I was thinking of when I thought of sunkisseds that don't look like Gus.

Keep the pictures coming! :)

From a few years back.. This guy IMHO, has what I feel is the best sunkissed look..

I absolutely love this girls head pattern, but this is the more "normal" body saddle looking ones.. If it was not for her head pattern, I would not have taken her, because that is not the hypo looking type I do so like..

One of our Star Gazer girls.. With the more normal type pattern..

The other Star Gazing girl we have, that has an inbetween look of the two patterns..

Tim and Joe, thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for. That first guy of Tim's most resembles Gus, I love his irregular saddles!
I also just noticed that some of the borders on the last few pics thata Joe posted have that "lava' look, you know where the borders look a little like dipped wax.

Just gorgeous!

They seem to be quite variable...which makes it tricky sometimes when you combine them with other morphs as the "sunkissed" look is not always there but they sure do look sunkissed something...

Jeff, in your opinion, if you use a pair of breeders like either Gus or Tim's male in the first picture, are the babies easier to tell apart? I mean, is that look heritable? I LOVE that look because they really look like nothing else!

Simple answer...no. But it depends. I see a lot of variability...even when I use males like the one you have. I think we are just starting to see the tip of the iceberg with sunkissed and the pattern/color variations. I think the more and more people that bred them the more we will see differences. I know I see lots of difference in the different sunkissed lavenders I have.

Here's mine

Mine looks a bit different from everyone else's. He doesn't have much pattern left at all. I chose him because he had the funkiest head pattern, which is what I love about sunkissed. I also like he has been losing his pattern with each shed. It makes his colors more intense.

First a baby pic, then one I just took a few days ago. I guess mine has the more "hypoish" look and looks more like Gus.

Thanks! Way back when I was planning my future Sunkissed Morphs, most of the ones available were the thin/non existent bordered variety. I was thinking that if I bred thin/non bordered Sunkissed to a morph which also had non/thin borders, they would all but disappear, and I like thick borders. So I had to work at making them thick, putting me a little behind, but the results may be worth it. Also, the thought was, if bred to a Reverse Okeetee, ;) I would probably end up with the same look as Sunkissed Amels, but with a wide border x wide border... :shrugs:

Actually to me, yours looks like the ones Beth and Tim posted, they look a lot brighter because there's little contrast between the saddles and ground color. I really like that bright orange!

GUS is a great guy!!..I fell in love with him too!
I have held him a bunch of times...and he is a sweetheart :)
Congrats I'm glad he's going to a good home..
PJ Bred him to Rya (Now my snake) her Loveline Okeetee....So I will be excited to see what the babies look like!
Take care and be sure to get those pics up!!..:crazy02:

'Manda, I cannot wait to get him!! I also can't wait to see what his kids look like, I have huge plans for him next year.
I am glad he's not bitey. :) (Of course I would love him even if he was)

How could I resist him? He didn't even cost double what hatchlings went for last year, he is breedable, and incredibly gorgeous! He has the look I was craving. Plus Betsy volunteered to deliver him to me, so no shipping. No way could I pass him up!

I hope Rya prove to have the Sunkissed gene..That would be pretty cool!
I have a few bitey snakes that just don't seem get that no matter what..I'm still gonna love them!..haha..But Gus is a GREAT guy!...
Yeah. There is no reason to pass up on such a great guy at a great price at breeding age..I'm mean really?..LOL...:) But I'm happy for you..
Looking forward to seeing your plans for him.

Oh, that that the reason Rya was chosen as a mate to Gus? That would be fantastic if she proves out! I definately want to be kept in this loop :)

I have a pair that look similar to this one. I love them great snakes and great colors. Very very aggressive eaters lol.

So question why are you keeping star gazers. I thought we were trying to destroy that trait.

This one is so amazing looking. So much orange. What a beautiful snake.
