The official Black Milksnake thread!!

I bet they will eat for you right out the gate too!! They looks like piggy's being that big at one year already!!

Thanks Fred. I'm going to have to think awhile to come up with names. Usually takes me a day or two.

Lovely. I really like these guys. Sigh! Another species on my list to get -- I'm up to 5 other than corns I think -- where am I going to put all these snakes?! But I really love their adult coloring.

Does anybody know why MBKs hatch out so BRIGHT? It doesn't seem like it would be advantageous in the wild...

Thanks Fred. I'm going to have to think awhile to come up with names. Usually takes me a day or two.

How are the ladies doing for you there? Tried feeding yet?

Mines not so hot, nothing super serious yet, just has no interest in food unfortunately while my others eat like cows. Oh well I'll keep trying!

If you get low on space and need to sell one of those two ladies there...well...Im just sayin :wavey:

Well good news! She (Nasya) finally ate today!!! So I think she is gonna make it!!! Very happy now!

That's great news! I had problems with Joakim when I first got him (he went 2 weeks without eating), but once I got him started, he is insane at feeding time. He is definitely in the top 2 of my snakes in feeding responses. (My Ball Python shockingly rivals his feeding response. Figure that one out.)

I'm sure glad that Naysa finally ate! Whoo hoo!!! Great feeling, huh? Another Black Milk well on its way to health and good growth!

Fred, you asked earlier if my two new ones have names. My 8 year old grandaughter named them for me, Alexandra and Gabriella. When she is here, she loves to help me feed.

Sounds great! Don't you love it when kids share in our "joy"? My youngest is ALWAYS wanting to help out... and I can see the "joy" in her eyes when she does.

Creating new herpers is AWESOME! :D

The more I see these black beauties the more I feel I need one! I really want a juvenile to be able to watch it's progression. But after seeing all these adults. I"m thinking if someone wanted to give away any adult, I certainly wouldn't say now...lol

They are great snakes. Normally docile but still good feeding responses. I think they are beautiful as adults. They often get a little larger than cornsnakes. It's fun to watch their progression from tri-colored hatchlings to shiny black adults, too.

Thanks guys!!! I am so stoked Nasya finally ate and is looking like she will be a healthy lady now!! It was a really good day yesterday thanks to her!

DND I like they new names for the girls :) Hey I noticed you have a male MBK there. I have a just under 4 foot female (46inches) who is about 2.5 years old that I am contemplating putting up for sale since she is kind of a loner with my pines and milks. Not sure if you have any interest there sir, but I would definitely trade her for one of your little black milk gals haha!!!

snakemom- gooooood luck finding someone who wants to give away an adult :) It is fun to get a young one though and watch it change from tri color to solid black! You wont regret it if you get one!!!

Nasya took her 3rd meal last night without any hesitance, not the biggest news of the day for those that come look at why this thread got bumped, but for me....every time she eats is a miracle right now!
