The official Black Milksnake thread!!

Suzy, if you don't mind I would love to try and fix up the dust in the eye issue on your pic for you :)

That would be fabulous! I set it as my wallpaper, and it's been bugging me. LOL - I keep trying to wipe the dust off. ;)

Thank you so much EmJagsz! You do indeed rock! :D I'm sorry I missed that, too. Oops! LOL

Markus, no problem. :) I don't mind if my pictures are used privately.

Haha you're welcome!!! :)

I snapped a few pics last night of my little girlie, it was feeding night! Sorry there aren't many pics, the lighting was just terrible and I didn't have a proper flash with me! :( Here is Skatha anyway, she shed a few days ago so her colours are pretty fresh!

She is such a WEIRD little girl during feeding. She has the most intense feeding response that I have seen between any snake I own. She goes absolutely CRAZY!! She will strike non stop until her teeth sink into something (sometimes it's my fingers, sometimes it's her mouse). Luckily she is so tiny that her bites don't hurt at all, but I sure hope she doesn't continue this as she gets bigger! She gets 2 pinkies each feeding, and after her first pinky, during the time I'm getting the 2nd pinky ready, she goes soo insane! She will strike at anything that moves and literally propels herself flying trying to do so!!! Anyone else have a crazy black milk? haha
Other than that, she is such a sweet girl!

Oh yeah, my two adults are fraykin nut jobs when its food time, and my youngin haha!! They just open their mouths and go insane until something lands in it! Its really funny sometimes haha!!! Luckily I have never been tagged and I am not too worried even if I did since they have smaller heads and teeth than most of the bigger snakes out there. I doubt it would be all that bad of a bite.

Well then I'm glad I'm not the only one with a crazy snake lol! I just thought it was very strange, since none of my corns respond that insanely when it comes to feeding time. I also didn't know they had smaller heads and teeth, that makes me feel so much better about her being crazy when she's bigger LOL I'm not really scared of being bit by her when she's bigger though, I know it won't be that bad, but I still don't like the idea hahaha

Yeah black milks have a fun reputation due to their psycho feeding modes haha! But IMO their heads don't get very large in comparison to other similar sized snakes that you see being kept as pets. Even most corns have bigger heads and mouths from what I see! But like I said, even as nuts as my adults get, I still have yet to get tagged by one. I usually hold them and take them to the tub where their food is already waiting and kinda direct their head towards it, they will take it from there for the most part. Sometimes they miss and go crazy aggro, but once they chill out I pick them up and do it again if they haven't found the feeder yet. For the adults it's probably a better route to take than the other way of putting them in the tub first and then offering the food by hand....unless you have a good set of long tongs...then that would be much better to keep you out of the crazy flailing snakes way if you offer the food to the snake where it is already, rather than taking the snake to where the food is waiting for it :eats02:

Hope that made sense haha!:uhoh:

Ugggh. WANT! That's probably the parents of Joakim, too. That's the same breeder I got him from. I wish I had the money for them! :(

Haha yep they probably are his mama and papa!! And I know the feeling...my credit card is burning a hole in my pocket aaaaaaaah!!!

You could always get them and send me the female! ;) I really need a female soon. Hopefully I'll get one this year!

My thoughts exactly. I already have a female, but I want another. Everytime I see (older) black milks for sale it always seems to be pairs, or solo males. There was an older female last year for sale, but I didn't have money at the time.

2 Females definitely wouldn't hurt. The only bummer for me is the fact that my male is an '08, and my best chances of getting a female would be an '09 or '10, which would be a long wait for my boy! LOL - I rarely see lone females for sale. In fact, I don't know that I have ever seen a lone female for sale.

If anyone is looking for adults, there is an ad on fauna right now from an awesome breeder who has a pair of provens up for sale:

If I had more money and less black milks...these would already be miiiiiiine :devil01:

OMD! That male is amazing! Wish I could get JUST the male, as I wouldn't want to breed.... *sigh*

Don't ask me to go halvsies, though--we're leaving for a 10 day vacation tomorrow morning. We should be well and truly broke when we get home :).

I have the same situation. Male is an 07, female is an 08.
