I second that! What a beauty, and looks fit as a fiddle too.
I just weighed him on Monday, and he is up to 35 grams. He doesn't even hesitate to take his food now, just dives right in.

I actually appreciated the experience with ShoeString, so much so that I am taking in nonfeeders that breeders haven't either the time on inclination to work with. It's a very rewarding, albeit out of the ordinary, side of corn snake keeping.

This was ShoeString this morning...

I'll admit that I first took on a few nonfeeders because they were morphs I could otherwise not afford, and the price was such that I could take a flier. I now have a much different reason to bring them into my life. As anyone who reads the newspaper knows, there is so much sadness and pain in the world about which we can do nothing. This is something about which I have some control. With these little hatchlings, I have something to offer, something that makes a profound difference in their futures. Some people will see them as nature's weaklings, their deaths unfortunate but unavoidable. But, as both diamondlil and I have shown, their fate isn't sealed. They can grow into beautiful, healthy pets, if given some extra help for just a few weeks or months.

I have something they need: time and some experience in force feeding neonates. In return, I get to enjoy their beauty, celebrate their health and vigor - for which I was instrumental. In the big picture, they're just pet snakes, but in the microcosm of my world, they are success stories to be treasured. I risk loss and the grief that comes with it, but the reward justifies that.

I understand what you mean. Indeed, thumbs up!

Am trying Lil on a small adult f/t tonight. So far she's just giving me the 'you want me to eat that !' look

Keep on trying, she will give in for sure

Jaxom, you are a good person!

She didn't, was greeted by squished, poooped on mouse in the morning and smug 'told you so' snake. :shrugs:

A peach f/t was more acceptable, Lil obviously hasn't read Dean's feeding chart because at a whopping 135grams she should be eating bigger prey!

Wow, she looks great! I'll be so happy when ShoeString gets that big. He continues to eat on his own, and has moved up to regular size pinks, and will now eat every five days. Lil is beautiful, and I really wish you were on this side of the pond. I have a snow het lavender that could make beautiful babies with her :licklips:

Before her troubles, Lil was going to be a breeder, but I just can't ever risk her health in breeding or having a whole clutch take after her feedng habits, so she'll remain a virgin queen all her life!

great news

I couldnt agree more with everyone spreadng the dont give up message.

I was at the end of my tether as some of you will know from days gone by my corn (invaer skooge) wasnt eating no matter what I tried. Diamondlil J9 was good enough to take skooge for a bit and worked absolute miracles and got her eating and up to a good size, but when i got her home I couldnt get her to carry on eating. I didnt know if it was stress, temps or what.
so, at the end of my wits I was ready to give up and let J9 take her into care and keep her. Better she lives with someone else than dies with me right?
So, anyways, Id gotten her a new lamp a whil eback and a new log which she seems to love. I thought Id just go to the pet store and buy 2 pinks just for one last throw of the dice. Imagine my amazement and joy when I looked in the pot to see Skooge had devoured a fair sized pink!! I was over the moon.
Just wanted to say thanks for all the support and advice from everyone, especially J9, in helping me get skooge on the right track. Photo's to come :)

basically, just stick in there and do what it takes

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! I've been waiting for you to post this since you 'phoned me, it's been so hard not to jump the gun and tell the news!

Lil was out for some exercise, having a slither over the sofa. The sun was shining in so she got too lively for good photos when she warmed up.

Ok Meg, you asked for it! This was the only non-blurred picture, but I hadn't turned off the flash. All the rest of the shots just show a rapidly dissappearing 1/2 a snake!
