Perlite, but I was worried about the condensation dripping on the eggs, so covered them with a layer of sphagnum moss after 2 weeks, and now most of them look funky. It may be coincidence, but I've taken all the moss out now

I hadn't posted an update in a while, so here goes:

The last time I weighed ShoeString, May 20, he was 35 grams. Somehow, in the past seven weeks or so, he's more than doubled that, to a whopping 75 grams! He is eating once a week, two fuzzies per meal, but I never realized how big he'd suddenly become. I think he's made up for all those months of force feedings when he seemed to grow little or not at all. I'll try to get new pics in a few days after he's digested. More then...

Guess who's eating hot f/t adult mice now! I'm so proud of my 'problem child'!

She looks happy, too. It's great to see how far she's come. And she has no idea how many people have been following her progress...

But I have, Sean, and there was so much help along the way that I really feel she's a credit to this site :)

I totally agree. Unfortunately bad things happen to our snakes, but by following along with what happens and what it done, we all can learn from it. Thanks to people like you who take the time to post regularly! It's much appreciated :santa:

Lil's in blue, so she wasn't interested in eating today. I noticed a damaged scale that I'm hoping will be gone after the slough

Yesssssssssssssssss! Not only has the damaged scale been sloughed off with this shed, but Lil's finally showing enough green to earn her morph name after all! :dancer:

Lil's a beauty, that's for sure. But how in the world do you manage to find a single wee little damaged scale? Mine all move so much and so fast it's hard to notice whether they have appendages or not!

Because I'm totally obsessed with her still! I was suspecting a colour change was happening, and seeing as she didn't want to eat but was happy being handled, I was practising getting macro shots on her. I was sure there was more green than before under the old skin, then spotted the damaged scale when I was editing the pictures. She's a pretty mellow snake and tends to tolerate me posing her for photos, probably due to all the extra handling in her troubled times she's just grateful I'm not syringing anything into her!

This is one amazing thread, Janine! I'm so happy that's she's come so far. Lil really is turning out nice. She kind of reminds me of my Glacier. Lots of yellow and green. :)

Hey Janine, Lil is looking real good, I love the intense yellowing on her neck!

How about some full body shots with your new camera, would love to see more of that green coming through!

Best wishes,

My goodness Janine! She's lovely and well worth the effort you put into her...although I admit you have far more patience than I would have had! Can't wait to see some full body shots of her!

The full-body shots I took were rubbish! I can't blame the model, the lighting or the camera, I just couldn't get it right!
