Hey Barbra! I didn't photo-shop this one! :grin01: The yellow is gradually getting more intense, it just doesn't show so well when I use flash. I'll try to get some outdoor shots if the sun doesn't get too bright.
 
You can also use a piece of white paper to deflect the flash if you need to. I do this quite often as the white colored snakes tend to reflect light anyway.
 
My camera (olympus x-670) has only flash on or off options, so I often mask over the flash with tissue paper to reduce the intensity. So far today looks bright but not too bight, so I'll see if Diamond Lil will cooperate for a photoshoot later.
 
I tried! Unbelievable in this country, but the sun today was a bit bright so not only did it wash her colours out on film, she got very lively and was making bids for freedom. These are the best of the shots I got today, I'll have to try a bit earlier in the day next time while there's still some shade.

Just edited some more that have captured some of her pink-ness too. She has a great range of baby pinks now as well as the deep yellow. I'm not sure if she will qualify as the 'green spot snow' she was meant to be, because the green around her saddles is still really faint

Wow Janine, I can't believe how good she looks, she used to be such a tiny skinny snake... you have done such a great job with her! :cheers:
 
Thanks Vanina, Meg, Grace. I can't believe how huge Lil seems, she's growing much better than Calamity who is being a very picky eater these days

For what its worth

I would like to add to what Bitsy was saying, I have had hatchlings go for
4, 5, 6 months without feeding and this is from pipping and not having fed after hatching ( living on yoke ). I must admit that when it gets to 6 months I force feed, this is not ideal because at this stage the babies are pretty weak and poor in condition, this has actually caused me to lose a few.
Force feeding must be used as a last resort, but never ever give up.

This very hunky man wants to ask Lil "How she doin'!?" He says he loves yellow, slithering along the beach at night, and fine dining on quality moose!

LOL! Looks like a side of mouse out of the refridge! Mmmmm. Lets see, boiled or raw....? She's looking great Janine!! So far with these two clutches all are eating without any problems. The first clutch has taken 3 meals and will be ready to sell. The second clutch has had about half fed so far and all have eaten. I will say again. I will not force feed. Janine is not planning on selling her girl or breeding her. I can't guarantee that when I sell mine to people. I will not sell an animal that will potentially be bred and pass on genes that would have led it to it's demise in the wild. I'll try any manner of scenting etc. but I will not forcefeed. If they never eat and get too weak, they are euthanized. As a breeder, I feel that it is the most ethical thing to do. Weakening the species due to our personal feelings is not best for the hobby. When peple do, that's when we have the first time buyer on here with the "my snake won't eat" questions. The early breeders worked hard to cull poor feeders and to make the cornsnake into the premier first time pet snake that it is. We shouldn't ruin all that hard work.
 
Darn right Meg. If any of my first clutch hatch this year, I've got a ready supply of live pinkies to try to start them on, and tasty home-bred frozen supplies. I won't go through what I did with Lil again, they eat or they die. Lil can stay with me for the whole of her life, she will never be bred, sold or given away, but I haven't got endless room or money to keep any new snakes that don't feed.
 
Try f/t first and see if they'll take it Janine. Mine all took f/t readily. I just made sure they were very warm, and very dry before dropping them into the deli cup houses and leaving them alone. They all ate within 15 minutes of being put in there. Didn't need live at all so far.
 
Thanks for the advice Meg. Only 4 eggs look good still, the others are really mouldy, so looks like I won't have too many to deal with this year
 
That's too bad. Wait and see though. Sometimes those moldy ones hatch anyway. What are you incubating them on?
