I am still amazed at the difference comparing a few months back and now, she looks chubby to me. I know she is not but if you compare two pics, she does look like a different snake... my my Janine, I hope you are proud of yourself for doing such a good job with her!?

She is chubby! Thank god her head has grown too or she'd have the dreaded tiny-ass-little-head syndrome! I'm thinking that she might not get to be a very long snake, but at least she is a little less of a chipolata sausage snake now!

I feel bad now, that I've never managed to follow this thread........ must have missed it since I usually don't wander off to this forum.... but my applause for you won't be less sincere! Applause! Lil has the girth to length ratio I want any of my yearlings to have!

I've had Diamond Lil a whole year now! I brought her home on 25th November last year, and she is now a massive 97grams

She is well worth everything you had to go through to keep her going. You're my idol :)
Where's the blushing icon? I'm just stubborn, that's all, and I had a lot of help along the way

Those two I've held back are still not consistant feeders yet. The amel is eating unscented pinkies but last night refused. I think he's in blue though. The normal refused last week, but shed yesterday. Tried scented and she wouldn't take it, so finally I put the scented in with her in a tub and left it in the dark. Ate it. She is soooo mellow all she wants to do is get held. She comes right out on your hand whenever you open the lid and just cruises around. She never starts, never tries to get away. It's made it harder to get her to eat as she has no strike response. Last night while I'm trying to get this little monster to eat I was thinking of you Janine. "She worked months at forcefeeding....at least these are taking scented....patience grasshopper!!" I'm going to keep plugging away! I would really like to get these consistant though so that I can find homes for them and get them out of the snake room! I need the space!

In the year I've only seen Lil strike once! That strengthens my thoughts that there is something not right with her even though she does feed regularly now. To me she is just too docile in comparison to my other snakes, a bit 'special needs'.
Your persistence with your non-feeders sounds like it's a long hard road, Meg. Have you decided what you'll end up doing with them? As Lil was my first snake, (the others at that point nominally belonged to my ex), and my collection is still small, she'll be my non-breeding pet for as long as she lives. When I start to breed the other girls, I'll probably have to have a stricter policy with any non-feeding hatchlings. Will you be able to find non-breeding homes for yours? I think for me with so few opportunities to sell hatchlings I'll maybe have to cull out any less than perfect babies which I'm obviously not looking forward to.

Well, I have multiple corns docile as puppy's but eating very well... even my yellow rat has never shown any sign of agression, but feeds like there is no tomorrow.... hence immediately attacks if my hand smells a bit like prey

I meant a feeding strike. I've only seen her strike a prey item once, she never actually seems really keen to feed. But then as you can see she is a short, stout snake, so maybe if she grows in length and gets a bit leaner (note to self to space feedings out more) she may get the idea more. She is my only snake that doesn't strike the food

Ah, I see..... but still some of my puppy tame and docile snakes strike their food

I would like to give them to a classroom or someone who wants a pet. I was going to give one to the kid who's snake from the petstore died but he ended up getting a replacement from the same place. I just want to make sure no one breeds them. The normal is quite docile. Kind of like Lil I suspect. We'll see what comes down the pike. I would give them to someone for the cost of shipping, but I have to make sure that they are both eating non scented f/t consistantly first.

Monthly weigh-in, and this girl is 109 grams of beautiful snow! :dancer: :dancer: :dancer:
She must be due a shed, as she's obviously been swimming, and did it again before I picked her up

WOW!!! What an incredible story! I have just spent the last hour or more reading this topic, and I have to say...Congratulations diamondlil and Lil! You two are a set of troopers, for sure.

I am so thrilled that your snake progressed so well. I have been sitting on the edge of my sit, literally, forso long now reading this "novella" that my rear-end is numb...and it was worth every second.

I truly feel that this topic should be PINNED to the top of the feeding issues forum. There is such a tremendous wealth of not only information, but true inspiration for anyone having trouble with reluctant feeders.

GOOD ON YA"!!!

An dthank you SO much for sharing this whole story...including the recent updates. Truly an incredible and well worth-while read. Thank you!

Thanks, but as I've said before, I'm stubborn, and I had a lot of help from here. Without Kathy Love's original e-mails I doubt Lil would have made it. I originally got bad advice from another site following the first regurge, from people who sounded like they knew what they were on about. I'd got the cornsnake manual, found Kathy's website and e-mailed her. By then Lil's regurge cycle and refusals had become a real problem, and I was desperate.
