The Spirits Thread!

Now I want to go to San Diego, if I remember the food is pretty good also. Well I really remember the chips after that, :nope:
We have a decent micro brewery here http://www.wildriverbrewing.com/ the pizza is also very good, at least I think so. I always hate to recommend food because everyone has different tastes especially pizza.

I am a beer drinker when eating crabs, a wine drinker at dinners, and a tequila or vodka girl when out playing. Though I love chocolate cake shooters too many will make me a sick pup so I usually keep it to straight shots of patron and vodka and red bull:)

I have the same problem when I drink straight beer. Usually sick the whole next day. I usually drink Captains and Captains Silver strait up! On the rare occasion, I add a little Pepsi to that. Then I get my Captain ON! ;)

One of my signature drinks is a Vanilla Vodka + Cranberry. Also, if you like sweet things, try some Sambuca + Root Beer. Right now I'm a big fan of Alize and Hipnotiq.

I've been working on a bottle of "Boilo" since Christmas...:crazy02:
Boilo recipe #1: Stovetop style

1 bottle whiskey (any relatively cheap, blended whiskey will do)
Several oranges. Quantity depends on how much you wish to make. Use at least 4.
Same number of lemons
1/4 cup raisins
2 tablespoons sugar
2 cups of honey
2 cinnamon sticks

Boilo is traditionally made during the Christmas and New Year's holiday. It's great on those cold winter nights. Beware, this can knock you for a loop! Cheers!

Peel the oranges and lemons and cut into quarters. Squeeze the fruit into a pot, then throw in the remaining fruit pulp. Add some water (some people use ginger ale). Add the remaining ingredients EXCEPT the whiskey. Cook everything at a slow simmer, stirring constantly. This will take about 15-20 minutes. If necessary, add orange juice and a bit more water. The color should be a yellow-orange. Don't overcook; the name is misleading. You don't want to boil this. Then slowly stir in the whiskey. Be careful - this can catch fire if splashed on the stove. Keep adding whiskey to taste. It's not uncommon to use the whole bottle. Simmer for just a few more minutes once the whiskey is added.

Strain and serve hot in shot glasses (a regular glass may crack). Drink in sips. Individual servings can warmed later in a microwave.
I could probably bring some to Daytona, if anybody is interested. That's just a little illegal...

I've got a Mason jar full of Cherry bombs (marichino cheeries soaked in white lightning) out back I might have to share also :crazy02:

Liquor
*Crown and RC Cola, Root Beer, or Cream Soda
*Southern Comfort and Sweet Tea or Pepsi

Beer
*Bud Light
*Miller Light

...Those are my typical favorites/"go to's"

I'm a Jack Daniels girl myself, but I won't say no to some fruity, girly drink with flavored vodka and I LOVE me some frozen Margaritas. LOL

We make cherry bombs by pouring out half (or more) of the juice from the jar and adding brandy. Really nice for a little nip every now and then, maybe added to some ice cream.

Speaking of ice cream and booze, I LOVE blue curacao with vanilla ice cream. So dreamy....

We went on a "tequila" tour down in Mexico a few years ago and learned that, like champagne which can only be called "champagne" if it comes from Champagne, France, tequila is a licensed product name that must come from the Tequila region of Mexico, otherwise it's agave liquor. But I like my agave!

I'm really an absinthe fan. There's a local manufacturer who makes Marteau absinthe and it is smooooth. Nothing like good absinthe.

I am not a huge drinker, but on a hot day I love a beer. I will appreciate just about anything, but Samuel Adams is always good.

For wines I prefer Port. I have never had a bad tasting Port regardless of vineyard.

I also love Mike's Hard Lemonade, or Limeade.

But my all time stand-by is vodka mixed with grapefruit juice cocktail, orange juice or apple juice.

I like everything......
You name it and I have fond memories of drinking it..... LOL
It all depends on where I am and what I am doing as to what my poison is....
If I had to give all of them up bar one, I guess my favourite is Whiskey and Pepsi 1/2 and 1/2 with ice..... Mmmmmm
