I don't know if this is where my post belongs - disclaimer! Sorry if it's in the wrong spot, I try my best.
Anyway... It was not as happy of a day that I was expecting it to be. So I've been looking for a striped corn just the last couple weeks or so, poking around, not too seriously because I don't have a lot of money at the moment. I find a CL posting in Portland for these hatchlings and you guessed it there's a striped amel in the bunch! The 'adoption fee' was $15, stellar deal, right? I proceed to do the CL thing and send an e-mail, etc.
I drove to NE Portland and met the woman who had posted the ad. Shortly after the conversation started I knew something was not right. For one, it was obvious she did not want me to go inside. Some people are protective over their space or private, I understand that. Then she brings out the hatchlings and all of their sheds are stuck and they looked too thin. There were 2 motleys and the striped amel. The little stripe had what looked like a kink. She has them on pine bedding! I was not about to leave the little ones so I bought the snake and left. Brought him over to the herp store and a very knowledgable store owner told me that it was not a kink. His bones are broken! This mixed with the stuck shed, plus the pine bedding has us both pretty worried about him.
Just got him back and all settled in. He's such a sweetie, not a tad nippy at all. I hope he makes it. I don't care about the aesthetic of a healed bone, as long as the little guy is healthy. Figured I would share with all of you, no pictures yet. It was a stressful day for him, so I will take some tomorrow and update this....
