Update on my ratties!

Thank you, Starsevol, that helps, thinking about that. And her life felt even shorter to me, since I only had her for 2 months.

Sorry for your loss! She looked very sweet....a very pretty rattie!

How old was she?

She was already over 2 years old when I got her....so pretty old for a rat.

Aww, sorry about Linnea. I think they do know when it is their time. My rats acted the same way a few days before they each died. I guess it is part of their intelligence.

Speaking of short life spans....its a good thing I took these pictures. Poor Linnea passed away this morning :'( I found her because my dog was sitting next to the cage whining and staring at something. I look and there is poor Linnea, lying under the ramp in the corner of bottom level. Poor sweet old girl. I think she knew her time was coming because I had them out last night and out of nowhere she climbed up my arm to cuddle on my shoulder for about 10 minutes. Linnea never really liked cuddling, I always did it against her will for about a minute at a time and then I'd put her down. But that was a sweet moment, feeling her soft heart beat and rexy fur pressed against my neck. I will miss that girl, even though I only knew her for 2 months she has left footprints on my heart :'(

R.I.P. Linnea <3

Animals always seem to know when they're going to go, and people some times. But hey, we KNOW you gave her a good life while she was with you.

aww im sorry she was a very pretty girl!
at least she had a great home and family to see her though her last days!

Oh my gosh! I can't believe this happened! Now Gwynnie has died :'( She was the healthy looking one of the pair, I did not expect this.....she was the more cuddly one, the one that WOULD randomly climb up my arm to my shoulder.....sad, sad week :'( Though I think I am too in shock right now because I am not crying like last time.....*sigh* She was not any less loved, though.....

RIP Gwynnie

DAMN IT ALL! REMUS TOO! Why the hell did all my over 2 year old rats decide to die in the same week!? D: D: D: D: D: Ok NOW I am crying....

That is the heartbreak of keeping these guys.
Mine have made me laugh and cry ALOT over the years.

So sorry for your losses, they were beautiful.

If you are up to going through this again, just wait until your heart tells you its ready. Then a little someone who has no chance at a life at all will find you and give you the chance to give it the best life ever, even if it is a short one....

I think I will be letting my remaining rats dwindle naturally before I get any more.....Lucy will be the hardest, though, as she is my heart rat.....and she is next in line as far as age :'( :'(

Oh I understand completely, you can't do anything like that til your heart and mind are ready. You will know when the time is right...

O mercy!
im sorry that they are all going at the same time, i had a group of hamsters do that to me when i was little.. it was so hard and i didnt even have mine as long as you had your little rat bebes =[

i hope your heart will be able to mend quick just knowing that you gave them a great home, and how much love you gave them.. i bet they wouldnt have wanted to live anywhere else!

Oh man! They always seem to do that. Maybe the stress of loosing their buddy is to much. :(

Funny how such little creatures wiggle their way into our hearts.

My poor boy Nick was left alone after Remus passed, so I just got done doing an entire cage renovation for him and moved Theodore and Little Bear in with him. I rearranged shelf placement and added a new (well, old but not being used) hammock and some new cardboard boxes and tunnels. They seem happy with the new arrangements :)

Sweet little faces and I'm so sorry for your loss. I've never had pet rats because I've had cats all my life and worried about the what if of them getting out. But I think they are adorable and I can understanding how heartbreaking it must be to lose more than one in a week. :(

I have a cat too and she likes to watch the rats when they're in their cage but once their out she is scared of them XD I think its because they're so big, lol. My girl Lucy is the only rat I let free roam around the apartment and she will entertain herself by chasing the cat! Its so funny :)

she will chase the cat!

thats adorable, our cats thought they were big tough kitties tell you take a snake out to hold then they go hide lol funny how animals are!

Daenerys-I'm really sorry about your losses. We just had to put a rat to sleep this week, and now her sister is lonely. I love rats too!

Our rats chase the cats too. We really haven't had any problems with it.
