Uromastyx Ares: Outside

He is absolutely gorgious!!! The sky looks like he is ready to take on the world LOL :)
When he tries to get away and you catch him, does he try to spike you with his tail?? As ours got older and didnt wish to be held or messed with, it was what he did and it really hurt! If they all didnt do that, I would get another Uro in a heartbeat!

Thank you! Yes, he does try to tail-slap me once in a while. He puffs up, too, so I can't swallow him.

that is one of the coolest animals i have ever seen! really, i cant believe how orange he is! whats his temperment like?

I would describe him as wild. It's like I have a tiny "natural" habitat in my living room, with a wild animal living there. He doesn't bite, he's defensive (tail slapping, puffing up) he's cautious, he's alert, active, spends a lot of time basking to maintain his body temp.

Completely different from my bearded dragon who demands personal attention, isn't afraid of anything (man-made, anyway- I can vacuum her!) wants to be carried, held, petted, bathed, hand-fed, tucked in with a blankie.

I feed him equal portions of escarole, arugula, and Dole Spring Mix. Sometimes I buy a pack of watercress. Sticky Tongue Farms vitamins every day. Ground up Mazuri tort pellets Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Repashy Uro dust on Saturday. He has a plate of whole bean soup mix, and a small saucer of ground up bean soup mix, and his substrate is white millet.
Wow! Would you invite me to dinner sometime? I love veggies...:wavey:

Gorgeous Boy BTW

I totally missed this while I was out of town Nanci.
Ares is looking fantastic! I still think other than Lindsay's beautiful Uro's that Ares is the prettiest. I miss talking to him at night...he would sit and watch me for the longest time.
