vivarium locations

All my vivs are in my lounge. I live on my own, but this is the room where I spend most of my time when I'm home, and the TV is usually on. I have a bank of vivs next to my PC desk and after a while, I usually look round and find a few snakey faces peering over my shoulder!

The Corns seem fine with this arrangement.

The only snakes I've ever had who didn't take to it, were a pair of Sinaloans that I bought as adults. They'd been raised in a reptile shop's breeding unit, and as such, had never come into contact with normal domestic activity (sounds/vibrations, smells etc). They never settled down in the three years I had them; they were always nervy and fought like demons against handling. In all our interests, I sold them on to another breeder, who said they were good as gold in his reptile shed.

Currently I have my 3 corns and my 4 Crested geckos all in glass tanks in my spare room. It's sorta become the "Reptile Room". lol I have thought about bringing the snakes out into the living/dining room, but not sure exactly how I could get it setup. The only real space I have is in the dining room but I'd worry about the draft that comes in thru the doggie door. But I am also thinking about going with a rack system as I keep getting more snakes. (one more on the way this week) :)

I keep all of mine in my bedroom on a rack I built right across from my bed (only place I had to put the rack really). I've been thinking of converting a dresser into a cage system. I haven't got the plans really yet, but it would pull out like normal, the drawers, and then a plexi-glass lid would be there to hinge open.

My rack's in my bedroom too. I wonder how the rack in bedroom/singledom correlates?

At this point, I'd _rather_ have my bedroom filled with snakes...

 Me too Nanci, I usually only see my chap once a month if I go to stay with him, he's obssessively tidy so I don't think my 'what housework?' attitude and room full of snakes and mice would work on a more 'normal' basis

My house is actually a lot cleaner now that there is no man there. I don't strew things all over, I take my shoes off at the door, I wash dishes when I use them. He didn't want me to put the new cages on the counter- too bad, they actually look great there! I've ordered a cool table to hold two 20Ls to go where the amp and all that crap used to be...I am having a gadget buying frenzy and found a Roomba robotic vacuum really cheap yesterday, so it's going to do the vacuuming for me- I just have to get all the snakes' wires up off the floor. And when Addy starts climbing around at night (she's noisy) it's like company!

My dining room is all reptiles & fish & now we are spilling in to the kitchen and laundry room. I plan to add racks so that we can squeeze back into the dining room. I'd still like a display cage or 3 in the kitchen, though.

Eggs & new hatchlings go upstairs in the iggy/cat room

Here are my 20Ls, Inez on top, Choco on the bottom. Lila is also in a 20L.

Well.. I'm slightly embarrassed to admit this, but my rack is kept in my living room's closet! =0
It was in my room until my boyfriend and I moved into an apartment together. The apartment's kinda small. The closet is a nice one, has fold out doors which are almost always open, and even when they're closed there's a slit large enough for the extension cord to reach the light switch right outside the closet. It's really not as bad as it sounds! Although now I feel inclined to take a picture to prove it.

I don't see why you'd be embarrassed. It sounds like the perfect place to keep them too me. I don't guess you're allowed to in the apartment, but if you were it would be cool to take the doors off and just have an indention in the wall' for your snakes setups.

I have a little room downstairs that's known as the "Reptile Room" because it's the only place in the house where my parents allow my snakes to be kept. We also used to have 9 adult redfoot tortoises and 5+ hatchlings living in there. I have a 4' x 2' x 1.5' enclosure, and four 3' x 1.5' x 1.5' vivs. I also have a 44 hatchling bin rack and two 3' x 1.5' x 1' vivs in the process of being built (the wonders of grade 8 shop class... :grin01: ).

Lisa :)

Mine is on a shelf in my closet, because my boyfriend wants absolutely nothing to do with it.
I probably would have put it there anyways, because there was a nice empty spot on the shelf, and it keeps the snake out of direct sunlight, in more constant temps and away from my dogs.
My boyfriend just insists the closet doors be closed when he comes over...

converted garage

I insulated our attached garage and put up a removable wall over the car door. I just heat the entire room to 84F in the day and let it drop to 77F at night. My wife is planning on adding on to the house and putting a basement underneath. She gets the garage back and I'll have an underground laboratory.
