Weird Issues with Page Loading

My computer, running Ubuntu (Hardy Heron distro), and using Firefox to view delightful internet pages, keeps popping up asking me if I want to "Save the .php file".

I'll add another post to this thread next time it happens again, but it's been going on for a few days, and happens whenever I try to load a NEW page most of the time.

Anyone else having this problem? Unfortunately, it's making the site more and more unusable.

Any thoughts, anyone?

Have you run your computers anti-virus software lately? I am not having this or any problems and my computer is set up similar.

picture.php

This is what I get. Which I got clicking on Photos and Albums in the User CP as well.

Any ideas? Is it my computer? Firefox? The website?

Perhaps a legion of angry monkeys that want all the snakes for themselves?

Thanks for looking!

I've been having problems, just different ones. It seems I can't run a search anymore here it says page wont load, and it does this pretty consistantly. Then when I hit refresh it says I cant search twice in 10 seconds.

I'm not having that kind of issue, but I am having trouble opening new pages AND every time I send a PM the page goes immediately to "IE cannot open this webpage." Either that or I get a blank page that just shows the logo at the top and the rest is just a blank page.

Honestly, I think they are all the same issue, since on my home computer, running vista, with firefox, I just cannot load the pages sometimes.

Whereas on this computer, it gives me the option to open the blahblah.php file or save it to the computer. lol

BTW, for everyone confused, I mentioned Ubuntu because I'm NOT using a Windows operating system on this computer. So many of the ways that you would troubleshoot a windows pc are not very valid on this one.

Since we seem to be getting ISSUES on both IE and Firefox, and with WIndows and Linux, I would bet that it's a site issue.

Is there any additional info that you would need to troubleshoot the site, Rich?

Or was this an expected consequence of an upgrade?

I've heard of many people having page loading problems, and difficulty with attachments. I have had these problems at home and at work, with Firefox and Opera. Loading attachments, I get a message along the lines of the server can't handle this request at this time. The page loads always clear when I F5. This started on the same day the dragons were removed.

Sorry, but I haven't done anything new on this site, nor have the server tech or programmer, as far as I know. Maybe it's just time for a server reboot to clear the cobwebs.... Hmm, I don't know if I even have a link to my server's admin page on this old system, and my other system is dead in the water right now.

Be that as it may, I haven't experienced any such problems. I'll try loading up this site on my Vista system and see if anything strange happens.

The only page loading problem I have had with the DYK thread. I have never been able to open it - I get a 503 - error (Server unavailable I think). I have tried on a few different Macs and I think I tried on a pc too but I am not entirely sure.

Blaming the removal of the dragons? Good grief! (Unless that site left some virus behind in revenge, in which case, Rich was more than correct to get rid of them.) ;)

I've been having problems as well...loading attachments seems to take an eternity and multiple retries. I have also been getting "blank" pages where my computer says it is done loading the page, but only a blank white screen is seen. I refresh the page and then everything is fine. But hubby has been having that problem on his sites as well, I just only get it on this site, nowhere else.

I'm not blaming the removal of the dragons. I didn't have any dragons. The day just sticks in my mind because of the uproar. I was thinking "The evil dragons are gone, but the site is having worse problems than ever."

I have been having the same problems as susan but just on this site.

Pages not loading or loading to a blank page.

When i have tried to upload pictures it has taken me a minimum of 20 attempts and about 40 for the one batch!

I'm on vista and I'm having these problems as well. I seem to get booted a lot after making a post. Most of the time when I make my way back the post is there, but sometimes it isn't. I thought it was my computer until someone else here mentioned it. Last night was the first time that I uploaded pics successfully on the first try. The page loading problem was a small annoyance but the manage attachments problem was really slowing down my pairings threads in my forum. After I hit "upload" I get the "page can not be loaded" error inside the manage attachments box. Sometimes just trying over a few times will get it to work, sometimes I have to hit preview post and THEN manage attachments.

I'm on vista as well, and i was having the same attachment problems as carol, with it taking many refreshes of the attachment window before it works.

It's probably the DYK thread, fouling the whole system up!! ;) J/K of course!! LOL!

Actually, the last two days, I have been having a problem. Seems to have started shortly after posting on this thread. When I go to click a thread, the page won't load or for some reason, I am double posting and have to go back and delete one.

Don't know what's causing it?

Its all due to the DYK Thread. :sidestep:

DYK I haven't posted on DYK in so long...?? It's nice to use the acronym again! ;D

I actually agree with Nanci...I don't think it was caused by the dragons, but it did start for me right around the time that discussion started, just as a point of reference, not blame.

Might be a server problem. I noticed that the server auto rebooted early this AM. But then again, I'm not getting any reports of problems on Faunaclassifieds.

Maybe that DYK thread needs to be just locked and another started..... Just in case...

But it's not just the DYK thread.

And I'd been having more lag then usual just on FaunaClassifieds, but not the same issue i'm getting on cornsnakes.com.

I suppose we'll just keep you posted.
