On Saturday, my parents and I went to the Portland metro reptile expo. We only planned to pick up one, maybe two, snakes... But that didn't exactly work out. So much for staying under 20! =)
All total, we picked up 2.1 Corn snakes, 1.1 '09 Dumeril's boas, and 1.0 Rosy boa. There wasn't a single adult Ultramel female (not too shocking..) at the expo, though, so it looks like Xente is going to miss out this coming season... Though I will have my eye on the Serpenco site for such a female.
First, the '04 Anery Motley het Hypo proven breeder female corn snake. We picked this beauty up from Jen at Ghost House Corns...
This little '09 male Ghost poss het Stripe was also from Ghost House... Jen is a wonderful woman--after I mentioned being a member of CS.com, she threw this little bugger in free! =)
Belly shot!
This proven '05 Charcoal het Amel, Anery, and Hypo male caught my eye and struck me as the perfect mate for Yelina. He'll also make a fun pairing with the Anery Motley female for my senior project! =D
Now for the boas! These guys are all my mom's fault... I swear! Lol. She insisted on Dumeril's and had the bright idea to get a pair... And then she accidentally talked the Rosy's seller down on the price when we didn't quite have enough money... Go figure, I guess!
The male Dumeril's, who has been dubbed Jack...
The female, Jill... She's more pink than this in reality, but the flash washed out her colors a bit.
Of course, the entire time my mom spent fretting about which Dumeril's pair to get, my dad simply gaped in horror at the size of the adult Dums in a proven breeding group at the next booth over... Lol!
And, last but not least, a male Bay of LA Rosy Boa from The Bean Farm... I can't get over how much I love this guy already. I'll definitely be on the look out for a mate for him, maybe in time for next breeding season...
Once they're settled in, I'll get better pictures... For now, I have to get back to scrubbing spare enclosures and rearranging the snake room. Did I mention how we only planned on about a third of these?? Lol!
Also, the corns and the Rosy all need names. Any ideas?
Thanks for looking!
