Western Hognose

mynamesrick

I REP VW
Last night i picked this little guy up along with two new leopard geckos.. He's an 09 Male western hognose, and is very friendly! The others the lady had were still all hissy and musky! This guy was a few months older, well started, slammin pinks, and well very mannered, so i went with him. hahah Hissed at me once, but thats cuz i scared him.. He didn't try and strike or anything though.

*chases down Shiari down and takes his hognose back! * :p haha ill take that as a compliment though! ;)

He is so pretty, I love Hogs and I'm trying to figure out why I don't have one lol.

thanks a lot! haha i was wondering the same thing.. thats why i got this guy! i wanted something new and i don't really like milks or kings.. and i don't have the space for a bigger Boa or python.. so i went with one of these little guys! they stay pretty small, but not too small.. and its soo cute to see them bluff and hiss! haha

Thanks a lot everybody! This guy is super cute! i love him, this species is great! The breeder i got him from is breeding some het red albino's so next year hopefully i can at least get some red's!

Awesome little snake there! I remember hearing about westerns a while ago on a reptile radio show....they are very neat and of course cute!

thanks :) This guy was not happy with me changing his water after feeding! Hissing, puffing up, and even one strike! His mouth was closed though.. haha he thought he was pretty tough stuff! HAHA!

Hee hee, my big female flatheads at me whenever I open her tub. She's 22" of FURY! LoL

22" of FURY that likes to try to eat herself or the plastic tub instead of her mouse. :p

To the OP: Here's hoping you weren't wishing for a particularly intelligent pet.

does she strike or anything? I know they love bluffing but I'm sure there are a few that will back up their bluffs with a bite or two!

Yep, she strikes, and she WILL bite me if I'm not careful. Fortunately for me, she moves really slowly, so she's easy to dodge. Once I've got her in my hands she calms right down, and she's a doll.

oh haha well at least they stay pretty small! Did you get affected by her "venom" ? The person i got my guy from said some people are allergic to the saliva and some are not.. just curious of what you know or have heard about this.. i've looked online but everything i find contradicts the last thing i read.. confusing stuff.. haha
