What Cornsnake Morph Gene Calculator works best?

Toddsnake

Serious Corn Addiction!
My old computer died and now I need to download a new Gene Calculator. The one I had had many morphs that were not included. Do they upgrade the calculator software every year to keep up with the new morphs? Who has the latest-greatest calculator out there?

Thanks for any info!

Todd:cheers:

I like that one Jay and PJ have on their site, PJC Reptiles, even though it doesn't have everything. I like it free-standing, not on a webpage. Except now that I have a Mac, you made me realize I don't have it any more...I'm sad now!

I like the one in my head. :p But then again, I don't think most people are as glib at spewing out potential morphs for a pairing and het percentages as I am.

I have a miami phase cornsnake male, and theres no where to select this type of cornsnake.

Guess this one is off of my list... for now.

A Miami is a selectively-bred Normal, so it won't show up on a morph calculator.

For the purposes of calculators, treat him as a Normal. Depending on what he's bred with, the offspring may or may not show Miami influences.

Maybe I am doing it wrong, but I don't like how it is listing hets. It doesn't show when it should only be 66% or 50% possible het.

Actually, yes it does, only not in that way. It lists all the potential offspring with the percentage of that particular combination listed as either 1/8 or 12.5%, depending upon how you have it set. For example, it lists the results for this pairing as:

Normal het amel X Normal het amel

1/4 (25%) Amel
1/4 (25%) Wild Type (Normal)
1/2 (50%) Wild Type het amel

Which is the same as saying all the normals have a 2 out of 3 chance of being het amel, or 66% het amel. Is it going to do that particular math for you? No, but none of the genetic calculators I've used do either.

The site is far from being finished, but the calculator works just fine and is easy to use. I'm learning more of the trade names as they are used quite a bit, but what makes up the morphs are listed as well.

That is not a bad predictor. For my basic morphs I still have Micks Corn Predictor down loaded. There are a lot more genes now so it is out dated but still gives me an idea of some of the basic outcomes, when my brain isn't working.

and I do not have to be online for it to work.

Though you really can not beat the way Ians and the Corncalc is set up. :)
