What did I find when I came home...???

Well, today I got home from Kiawah! It was great but of course I was worrying about all of my snakes! I spent hours preparing them...giving them new water, cleaning all of the cages, and feeding them right before I left. I even found a way to get the water cups to stick to the paper so the babies wouldn't knock them over.

The only thing I couldn't do was get my last egg to hatch! The other four normal babies were out but one was left. So I put a full water dish in the incubator and hoped the baby would hatch and find it.

When I got home I went upstairs to check and....there was a beautiful RO in there! I couldn't believe it. The mom is a stunning amel with large borders but not as large as regular RO's. The father is a normal. So how did I get a RO? And after picking him up and checking him for kinks and stuff I realized he only had one eye. I know that they can live with only one eye as long as he sheds and eats okay.

I am pretty sure this may be the one I keep...

Can't wait to see what it looks like after the first shed! Looks like it will be a very brightly colored baby.

I did a favor for a former boss/friend of mine so I didn't get to "see" the end of the last eggs that you had (I just got back now from the trip...)...wow, a one eyed-baby! :) Cyclops, right? That's what you're naming him, right? (Or at least Cy!) ;) What a pretty lil'thing & a nice surprise! Congrats!

Thanks Everyone!!!

Well that would be a great name! His nickname will be Cy but my sister took one look at him and said "Can you name him Popcorn?" So yep...i think popcorn is the name!

Ohh and Justine...I am not sure if I have ever seen your baby but I will go check. I am pretty sure he is some sort of RO but he has way more orange and stuff.

More picks to come after his first shed!

Hey Dave, congrats young feller.. That must have been an exciting clutch for you to wait for..

Regards.. Tim of T and J

Looks like the same borders as my RO and people here told me it wasnt one :shrugs:

Yea, looks like it will turn out to be a regular amel to me. The borders are nice, but I do not think they are large enough to qualify as an RO. Lets see a picture post shed though!

I really hope he/she eats well for you... those markings are totally awesome :) Cant hardly wait to see what he/she will look like in a new set of clothes :)

What a cool dude Dave, Im picking up an eyeless corn this weekend. I just want to give it a chance, plus it will be very educational to see how an eyeless corn actually copes in captivity.

Thanks Everyone for the nice comments!!! I will post more picks after he sheds!

Ohh and Elle...I want to see picks when you get him! Always good to give them a chance!

My OH isn't keen on the idea of posting pictures everywhere. The only reason he took him was to save him from that sort of freak show status. I agree to some extent, but I also think that pictures and information SHOULD be shared on these kind of deformaties. I know most would kull any babies with such sever disabilities right out the egg.

A wee anery. I offered the dude quite a lot of money for him too. I just want to give him the best chance in life possible.
