What is this??

Hey Buzzard, there are some breeders that will send non-feeders to a pet store if they don't have the time to get them eating. Not all, but some.

Wow, i started a pet store slaughter. I say petco/ petsmart in particular because half the time the do not know what they are doing. Yes pet stores HELPED bring corns into the pet trade. But im sure pet stores are not the main contributors, field herpers i would say also made a large contribution. I did not try to take this ad onto this route but it unfortunatley went that way. I personally worked at a VERY large pet store called Animal jungle, here in va. We always tried the hardest to take care of our reptiles, but then again we had a well trained staff and our own dept. I personally think petsmart and petco should be shut down. I remember seeing something on the net awhile back about them. The issue was pretty disguisting, and the pictures were very graffic. Well i have said my portion.

I understand your feelings about large corpate petshops. In general they do stink. But to have a bad experience and express that,is different than bashing the whole group. My opinion is that they are a good thing for us. They keep prices reasonable for supplies. The mom and pop pet stores usually can not buy in huge bulks and I can pay 10 dollars at there shop for a small bag of aspen or that same 10 dollars for a large bag. They keep mom and pop honest and force them to be competitive. They have to think of new ways to be on top. Like, knowledge.....

Dont always believe everything you read and only half of what you see. Remember pictures can be staged and messed with and may not be the location they claim them to be. I think we all have horror stories from some point in our lives, along with bad experiences.

Working at a petshop I am sure there were plenty of question you could not anwser. I know I had my fair share. But I think the difference is, How we handled it from there... I, like you, would go to my references.

My post was not to bash anyone personally. But to try to show the flip side of the argument. It was not meant to be rude. If it came off that way then I apologize for that.

Do you consider them "good" breeders then? That was my point.

Throwing in an edit.... Do you consider them fair would be a better question? Unless the store knew they were not eating..then that is on the store

Well, all I know is that the pet stores around here, a few in alberta, one in winnipeg among others are all getting some pretty cool corns in! The morphs are very popular among my wholesale lists and yes, hets are involved!

Around here there are lavenders het hypo stripe, ghosts het blood, bloods het stripes, LOTS MORE! lol! ;) Oh and ALL are well started and guaranteed to eat!

Rebecca

ps- I think that Rich Z sells <cough SOLD cough> some to "big box" stores down there, so I'm not too sure why people seem to think there isn't going to be quality snakes or hets showing up in shops? ;) What's that saying? Life's like a box of chocolates!" Just get some good males which are homo for LOTS of traits and have fun with some of those pet shop females - IF THEY ARE HEALTHY AND YOU ARE HAPPY ENOUGH WITH HOW THE PET STORE IS RUN!!!

Just be careful to quarantine if you do get him. (Good looking ghost BTW!!) A friend of mine brought mites home from a big box store recently.

I bought a gorgeous baby Striped Corn (labeled Fancy) at the local Petsmart. The animals there are all healthy, the cages are clean, and the staff that I have talked to are knowledgeable about the animals. Petco however seems just the opposite.

Is it a ghost? I have a male caramel that looks very similiar. The color on my monitor may be screwy though.
I've seen stripes at local petco's/petsmart's on 2 or 3 occasions here. Was tempted...but didn't buy.
