Sorry about the strictness of this requirement, but it is necessary to block spammers and scammers at the door as much as possible.

What personal information about you is floating around the internet?

There's a site called spokeo.com that's a new online USA phone book w/personal info: everything from pics you've posted, your approx credit score, home value, income, age, family member's names. Remove yourself by searching your name, find your page, copy the URL then go to the bottom right of the page & click on the Privacy link to remove yourself.

I have many family and friends who found their information on this site.

I have a friend who is in is 60's and has moved around a lot for his job and it had him on there over 15 times for almost every address he's had.

My boyfriend was more irritated that they had wrong information about him then the fact that he was on there three times, three addresses.

I personally think sites like this should not be legal. For $3 anyone can find out just about anything about you.

Its so strange. I lived at the same address in CO for 7 years yet there is no listing. I lived in FL for two, yet there is a record for me being in Tallahassee.

I have lived in Ohio my whole life and so far I'm the only one I know who had nothing on that site. Maiden name and married.

This is just an aggregate site, it just collects the info (which is often wrong or outdated) and makes it available in one place the real trouble is stemming the flow of info from the dozens if not hundreds of sites that spew your info onto the web. Look at all of the sites it trolls for info; music, movies, pictures, social networking, even your Ebay profile. I have always been very careful of my online foot print and only if you know my wife's name can you accurately trace me online. The email I use for everyone except close friends comes back to a TX address where I have never lived, you know I have an interest in reptiles (It shows posts here and Fauna) and that I have a very wide taste in music oh, it thinks my name is George.

Several people have requested their info removed from the site but months later it is still there as they are under no obligation to remove it since they do not control the data they just collect and publish it. (Wikileaks anyone?)

I think those trolling sites should be outlawed! It's an invasion of privacy!

Privacy was given up / changed with the internet. For example, every time you do a Google search, Google saves the information and logs it away...

Heck, I didn't realize there were 11 other people in this country with my first and last name. Go figure.....

Nothing on me. I've owned the same house for 10 years, too.

It has 3 correct addresses for me. 2 in Colorado, and 1 in Florida. The Florida address is my parents address, though.
Oddly enough, it has my boyfriend's information fairly accurate, except it lists him as married. XD

If you check out the privacy settings you can remove yourself from it.

I actually removed myself from it last week, and I just searched it now and I'm not on it anymore.

So it works, you just need your email address I believe and it emails you and asks if you want removed.

I remember when you could access all the spokeo info without needing to pay. It had me still living at my childhood address... Oh, and it had me married to one of my brothers, and I made over a million dollars a year. Strange life.

I can't find me, my mother, my father, or anyone else I know on there. But I did find my aunt, but I sent info to her to delete it. And she did.
