I get a "404 Not Found" that happens when a site is down for some reason.

IMHO, I preferred it with the black background. It was very pleasing and inviting and made you want to stay. (Not all black background sites/pages are like that.)
I think the black background somehow subliminally directs your eyes and lust towards the colorful pics of corn snakes.
