What's your favourite thing about snake-keeping?

"My S.O. really fills in their thoughts, like 'Please, can you give me a mouse now and stop staring at me?' with a silly voice."

That would be TOO funny! I am trying to imagine hubby doing that, but I can't imagine it. But it does make me laugh just trying to picture it!

That's one of his 'features' I love so much, he makes me laugh a lot :)

seeing their behavior! I love science and as an artist there is something about the natural habits of my reptiles that I love. Even if they do sit around all day, the fact that i own almost completely different species for each snake, i see them all react in very different ways! Everything they do is beautiful from their movements, to their searching, hunting, drinking, and relaxing!

Seeing different colored - and sometimes surprising - little noses poking out of eggs each year!

Of course, cuddling and kissing them comes first! But I love capturing a perfect photograph. I went crazy with the first hatchling I produced. I love seeing updates on the babies I've sent out.

It's a tie between these two things. I love planning the pairings and get very excited when eggs start pipping and I get to see what hatches out of each one. I also love taking photos of my snakes. Even if some of them frustrate me a little by not cooperating, I know I can always totally unwind and get away from the day-to-day stress by taking a few snakes, especially my favorites, outside for a nice photo session. I get to play with them and give them my undivided attention for awhile, and even when the sun has gone down and I'm back doing all the other things that need to be done, I can still get some relaxation time doing the photo adjustments to get them ready for posting here.

I love to just walk in my snake room and see them crawling around and the rush u get when you have the crawling all over u or watching them eat and taking the time to craw for them and feed them like they should and fixing there cages and especially spending time with baby snakes

I'm with Kathy, seeing the babies hatch is my favorite in the hobby. Second would be seeing a pile of healthy looking fertile eggs in an egg box. Third, would be feeding time...I love to feed snakes! But last but not least as I do it the most, is coming into the room and just looking at the many cages and looking them over. Like so many precious gems! Love it all!

Silly to say, but I like that my snakes don't poop on the floor, or shed all over. They don't rattle my bed when they are hiding from thunderstorms. They don't nag me for attention. (Can you tell my dogs have been bugging me lately?!)

I'll have to agree with this. Our first two clutches were christmas morning clutches and we were very excited with all the different morphs that kept popping out. :)

No doubt. When we went to the beach this summer I had family members and friends all worried about who was going to feed my snakes. I kept having to explain they aren't dogs and they will be fine while we were gone although I'm always worried about coming back home to a smelly house from the big redtail's mess. Yuck. Have to kinda time feeding with that one.
