Wild Caught Anery Corn from FL

El Jefe

Mark 16:18
This male came from Hendry Co., FL. I'm hoping to get him to go to one of my Lavas that is from 100% wild caught corns on both sides of the family tree (traceable through the ACR). Wish me luck!

Mmmmmmmm Ice ghosts with all wild caught bloodline......might be kinda fun! :dancer:

I read somewhere that there is a locale in Florida where up to 10% of the wild corns are anery. This is the first time I've ever seen a picture of one.
Huge congrats!!

I'm alway amazed at how much darker the wild-collected AnerA corns are than the captive bred ones. I've gad some that are almost solid black, but they produce regular offspring.....just like so many WC normals are drab brown and ugly. I think they just spend too much time in the sun...lol. Seriously, it is obviously phenotypic plasticity, but those are neat looking aners. Congrats on that dark, good looking, booger!

I had to look up Hendry County. It's at the southwest corner of Okeechobee. It'd be fun to go herping down there!

Thanks for all the comments. Yeah...I was lucky to get a hold of this guy and have some neat plans for him in the future.

That kid looks like you need to feed him up!

Yes I do. He was caught on a warm day early this Feb so I expect he has been without food for a while due to hibernation. He eats very well here and I'll have him to a good weight in no time.

Congrats on the great WC snake! I've never seen a WC anery..Their really cool looking..Is he currently still aggresive? Do you feed him live or f/t??

He's really handsome - so dark! I feel like there is something really different about his coloring (other then him being dark) but I can't put my finger on it...

Great find Jeff! And hopefully he is a naturally occurring anery and not someone's escaped anery full of hets. I've had enough escapee hatchlings from my own collection that it wouldn't surprise me to find all sorts of morphs in the wild around my house.
