Year in Review-D.U.W.

Well, this has been my first season of really getting out there and cruising the back roads to find some wild herps, and with the help, advice, and tips of long-time local herpers, and a few members of this forum, I have to say it was quite successful.

So...here it is. My favorite moments and pictures from this year's herping adventures. Some are my favorite animal pictures, and some are just unforgettable moments. Thanks for taking the time to look!

This was Zayne's first road cruise, and the first Cal King for either of us. She is 3 in this pic...about to turn 4.

I love this picture. Taken around my daughter's 4th birthday, when asked what she wanted to do she replied, "Let's go find some snakes!!" We didn't find anything, but she was as enthusiastic as they come.

ZayneBoa.jpg

This was her very first "Solo Capture". She walked up and ID'ed this Rubber Boa without hesitation or input from dad, reached down and picked it up, than walked over and released it off the road...all with this HUGE grin on her face.

Taken just this past weekend, this was her first Solo Gophersnake. My baby is already a pro...

All in all, I must say it has been an incredible and unfrogettable season. Hopefully next year will be just as good!

Thanks to those guys that pointed me in the right direction, and gave me tips when I was struggling...You all know who you are.

Nice year in review, Chris! The year isn't over yet, though, is it???

Pretty close. We got snow up in the mountains last night and the night before, and it is starting to get right chilly at night 'round here. The potential for a few more decent nights is certainly there...but it could freeze up in the next week or two, as well. You never really can be sure in my neck of the woods...

Maybe he started on 09/30/2007... :sidestep:

Snakes aren't out all year...so the season is basically over. The "year" for herping in my area runs from early May to the middle of October, typically...6 months of herping. That's a year, when your out in the field...;)

Your daughter is SOOOOOOO precious. She could give Bindi Irwin a run for her money!!!! You must be so proud.

As for the rest of the pics... TOOO kewl!!! Great shots of some very awesome snakes.

KUDOS!!!

I just love love love seeing the pics of Zayne. She is just the cutest little bugger and such a pro already!!

Those are such wonderful photos, Chris. I can tell you're a very proud daddy, as you should be! Zayne is precious, and obviously she's quite the herper already.

I've been lucky that my 6 yo is enjoying this new hobby as much as I am. We're learning together, and it's been a blast!

Congrats on a wonderful year, and here's hoping for an even more fun and adventerous one next year!

Thanks for sharing!
