OMG Guys come on. I think this thread has gone from informative to nasty so why not agree to disagree and walk away feeling like a winner for having your own opinion whether or not anyone else agrees:)
 
I just think you shouldn't knock it until you try it.

I despised anyone who smoked marijuana when I was younger. I assume it was because of all the BS fed to me at school, but I never wanted anything to do with anyone that smoked it. Then I tried it and formed my own opinion rather than taking everything fed to me as truth. That's all I ask. Don't hate or call for a ban on marijuana when you've never experienced it for yourself.

I, and I know I am not alone, am thrilled to see The District of Columbia taking such a huge step in legitimizing the campaign for reformation. If medicinal use can be passed there, I have little doubt that a Federal Medicinal Marijuana Act is not far behind.

While it isn't the Recreational Use Act I would really like to see, it is a HUGE step in the right direction after nearly 50 years of senseless oppression.

Kudos to the District Government in D.C. for having the guts to take a positive stand!:cheers:

Maybe they will start making some sort of pill that has very small amounts of the chemicals that are helpful from MJ, and make it an over the counter type of vitamin or like a pain pill.
I know that cancer runs in my family pretty strongly and anything I could do to help prevent it from happening to me would be awesome... That, and I threw my back out real bad my last deployment and would rather take something like that for pain, then taking other over the counter pain meds that I know are tearing my insides up.

There is a pill that has been manufactured already. Several actually. Most of them are only moderately effective, at best, and completely ineffective in many cases. Others have severe side-effects including patients becoming comatose and vomiting, tolerance, and withdrawal.

Read the testimonials down the page. The references in the bibliography are as recent as 2006, so the net article seems recent/modern/educated, and the opposite of closed-minded...ahem. My sweet darling baby sister was diagnosed in June, 2006 with Multiple Sclerosis (incurable) and it broke my heart. I will never forget that day and that telephone call. She is OK, but I would, and will, do anything for her. Just about anything. And that time may come.

Annndddd....I have personally watched several friends die of cancer, and...sigh...too many friends die of AIDS. If anything could have made any of them feel better, I would have been knocking over furniture to hand it to them.

My mother has MS. She also has cancer. I wish she would open herself up to the possibility of reprieve from her daily pain and anguish, but unfortunately, she has been incredibly, permanently, and saddeningly brainwashed to believe that no good can come from "Devil Weed". It has been recommended to her by her doctors for several years, however, she simply refuses to take any "hippy drugs" due entirely and completely to a life-long exposure to mis-information about the one drug that might actually help her feel a little better.

That is where the real sadness lies...

No...she won't. She is scared toi death that even a hint of THC in her system will cause her to become psychotic and want to jump off of a building, or that she will become hopelessly addicted. Decades of media and government induced misinformation have destroyed any hope she might have of easing her suffering.

And yes...this is why the propoganda offered as "evidence" in this topic is so frustrating to me...especially when people ignore what is professionally documented scientific studies that refute the myths, all because they think their opinion is somehow more accurate than the facts...

Someday, people will learn the difference between debating an opinion, and discussing facts. This topic is not about opinions, it is about the facts of marijuana. Too many people are far too willing to dismiss scientific fact in favor of the garbage the anti-marijuana campaign has vomited up...
 
I just think it's a bit odd that this proven to be helpful and only mildly, if at all, dangerous substance is illegal if the only person that would be harmed by using the drug is the drug user. Keep in mind, it is decriminalized in several states... and around Canada. And those Canadians don't mess around.
Now, imma go get high and hurt no one really fast. 'scuse me.

It's not decriminalized in Canada, but we have no 'War on Drugs'. At least not yet. Harper is trying to start one. :/
 
Chris - if I could I would have repped you many times over in this thread. Thank you for the links to actual scientific documented information, not just hearsay, opinions and government propaganda.
