Post pics of your "snake room"!

Nice and organized. I love the green handles! Really makes the bins pop ~LOL~ So are most of the little ones empty right now? Is it Ziggy and Lily who had babies?

The babies are from Ziggy and Peach, so they will be normal het snow. She was already gravid when I got her and Ziggy because they were cohabbed. All the small bins are empty waiting for babies (day 62!!!)! The only inhabitants so far are the eggs and my new unnamed Amel. The 2 big bins will be for Ziggy and Peach.

Well, my "snake room" is just one rack. We built it ourselves (well, hubby built, I supervised) and it's our first attempt. It's pretty simple, but I'm quite happy with it. It's still a work in progress, but I finally finished melting all the holes today! I've started preparing the smaller bins for the 18 hatchlings I'm expecting pretty much any day now. I like that it's so versatile; each shelf can hold various combinations of bins. Currently I have 5 different tanks/bins throughout the house, so I will be happy to have everyone in one place once I move everyone in.

Looks real nice. I've seen those green latch bins, do they have a flat bottom or are there grooves in them?

BUMP!!
please this is an awesome thread!

I have a REQUEST please!!! Can some people with there bins show me how they heat the bins? Im considering investing in a pile of snakes soon and need to consider the cheapest/easiest way to heat them. ALSO consider the snake room is my bed room. Thanks!

You'll want to look into Flexwatt, as that's how most people with racks heat them. You can find info here, YouTube has how to videos and the various sites where you can buy it have info too. I got mine at Bean Farm, but if you're going to the show in Sept., I imagine you can get some there.

here is my rack set up in my room. the white rack is for my corns/milks and the wood rack is for my boas and bps, next to it is is my beardie and my cali kings tub.....ooo and my tv...lol

OMG *drool*...that looks awesome!

I don't really have a snake "room" per say, just my room where my two snakes live. lol

But when I have the room to breed I'll have all my adults/breeders in 20gal tanks (except for Donatello and Malakai, being my first two snakes they get special treatment ;) ) then all the hatchlings/yearlings and ones for sale in tubs :)

You just put the flex-watt on the shelf, some tape it down with that silver aluminum tape, I don't. And then put the tubs on top of it. You can also run it down the back of your rack for more enclosed ones.

Robbie and Caramel... sweet! :D

A chest freezer is in my near future, although the wife doesn't know it yet...

I even have a dedicated breaker that goes to an outlet in the snake room that will be perfect for it. :D

By the way, I ended up getting a chest freezer from Sam's. Ran me $150 I think, and I even OK'd it with the wife before-hand! :D

It's just the right size for me to put a tub on top when I am working with that snake, so it doubles as a work station. Multitasking rules! :grin01:

Mike is building more racks now. The room where the 10 gal tank rack is going to be more of a gecko room soon. He is building a rack for them as well as a new rack for snakes in the current main snake room. Whenever he gets that done, I will post more.

Yea, I know they aren't "racks" but I call stackable systems racks too... I love what you have!! How do you do heat on it?

thanks :) I have pieces of cardboard underneath each viv, and taped heatcable onto them, one cable per stack. The bottom of a Herptek will always curve up slightly in the middle, the bigger the viv the more it curves. That gives room for a cable. When the bottom gets heated, it will curve up a bit more. But it's not ideal. I'd love serial connected flexwatt but we can't get that over here :(

I'm curious... I have my tanks on something similar but mines metal, however, two problems... One it's SUPER high, I can't get into the top tank without a chair, and I have trouble getting in and out of the bottom tanks because the shelf above blocks things.... What's the gap between the top of your tanks and the shelf above? and how high are your tanks?

I use a step in the computer room and a small stepladder in the living room myself. Can't see the critters in the three upper vivs in the living room when just standing on the floor.
