Post pics of your "snake room"!

I'll have to take some pictures of the newest way I've got things set up. But I know I've got a couple different threads floating around here somewhere.

That'd be me. My HOUSE got up over 100. It was 92* at about 2am. :( That's what happens when your a/c unit DIES in Florida, and your house is poorly insulated, and you're not home during the hottest part of the day to catch it. I'm still shocked my crestie and tarantula survived.

D'oh! We had our AC crap out on us summer before last. I didn't lose any snakes.. did you Robbie?

Our 10 gal set up is between Jake's computer and dresser in his room. Oh and the pic on the mirror is not a naked man, it is John the Baptist and Jesus.

Our 20 gal and tubs are in my office, aka snake room!

It has changed a little since then but I haven't gotten around to taking any pics...and now we are trying to find another house so it will definitely change then! But this is from when we were just getting going...now up to 26 with 2 more coming so we are working on another rack right now.

Well this wasn't easy for me to do because I guess I didn't realize how small the room was until I started taking photos. This is my third bedroom and I believe it is a 12x12. Anyway it is my sanctuary. It is nothing special but I love my time in there. Sorry if the room is a little messy but here it is.

From out side of the room facing the racks, so as you are walking in.

This little chair is in the back right corner,

These are the racks from that little wicker chair. The racks are on the left wall

This is looking at my computer from the little wicker chair, the upper corner, next to the doorway sorta

Thanks for looking

Wow, that's a bunch of snakes kadaysa! I like it! A lot of aspen too, I'd go broke. I use the free newspaper they throw at my house on Wednesdays. :D

Sadly, quite a few at the tops of the racks. They were all adults I thought would be more heat resistant. The tubs were too small for boids, unfortunately, otherwise they would have been up there, and I probably wouldn't have lost any. So now, the top 4 shelves on the GIANT rack have been retired out.

I buy the aspen from my local reptile show. It comes in a bag that 4.38 cu ft. (15.9kg compressed). Made by Harlan. Pretty big bag and I think I paid 10.00 per bag. I don't remember exactly how much but it was cheap enough that I picked up four of them. I am set for a long enough time. I was buying aspen from my local Petco and cleanings were wiping me out financially. Now it's no big deal :dancer:

I am so sorry to hear that Robbie. :(

Wow, that is a good deal alright. I never thought to look for aspen at the show we just had. I'll have to look next time.

Actually Robbie, I was thinking of someone else. It was a woman. She was doing something outside, came in, and smelled it...Definitely a heat malfunction. A couple months ago.

But I _do_ have a back-up AC, too. If the house AC dies, the little one can keep the living room cool enough. In fact, that's why I bought it in the first place, the AC died. But now it is replaced so hopefully I should have many stress-free years from it.

.

I think that was Becky, if I remember correctly....poor thing.

Oh man that would be my worst nightmare ):

Other peoples set ups are so impressive!
I wish I had time and money to go crazy on a lot of snakes. Its hard enough to go on vacation without worrying about these 3! How much do you all think that impacts your heating and cooling in your home? That looks like it could get toasty after a while.

Here's my "room" its actually just my living room next to our sofa so we can watch them, them us, and the people across our apartment complex can see them through our windows. The red glow at night im sure makes it look like we've got a meth lab going on in here.

My collection is far smaller than most peoples' here but still! a collection it is :)

Thumbs up for small but still awesome, and color change led's from Ikea <3

I like your lighting. I can remember when I had three snakes...I can remember thinking I'd never have more than ten. More than 20...Right now 30 is my limit!!!

I'd stop at 50...why only stop at 30 *wink*...sorry, I'll stop encouraging your addiction :D. I like your setup Dorgrim...it has a very nice clean look to it. I may just copy you ;)

My you have a long thumb!

i just now noticed lol
It is kinda long....lol

esotericforest: I got the shelves at Ikea for like 20$ but i know if you go to retail stores that are going out of business or to shops that are getting new racks even, and they are usually willing to let you buy off some of the old racks :D (which a lot of the time are the same thing or close to what Ikea has or any other hardware store) I like them :) they help with ventilation and make sure none gets too hot :D

Ahh, I like it! http://www.reptilebasics.com/iris-shoe-box-rack-12-or-16-tub-sizes.html

This one is new since I bought my rack. I may have to get a couple. :D
I have one of the hatchling racks. I love it! I have 8 bins open now and I feed in them. They are very nice and user friendly.

I get a 8 cuft big bale of aspen from my local pet shop for $25.00. It lasts me for about 2-4 months.

I need to take some new pics of my room since we bought our new house in October. I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

And you've found it to be escape-proof? They seem a little bit looser than I expected, but the guy from RB swore there had never been any escapes of hatchling corns.
