Holy crud! Man, the most interesting exploratory I ever got to see found us a double intussusception. I can't wait to hear what those things were!

I need to go tech at a place that works with dogs. They do such strange things.

Yeah like torsions in big breeds ugh. Such an awful thing.

Lipoma? Teratoma? What ARE THOSE???
They where all fatty tumors like lipomas but one was encapsulated an the other one wasnt and they where both inside the abdomen and not attached to anything except some blood vessels....we sent samples on both out to the state lab.

i get to do those all da time mostly on cats and puppies, ive also done afho's, torsions, gastrointerotomy and luxating patella surgeries. The weirdest thing ive seen inside a dog was a set of panties and a bra in the same dog!!! that dog died on me on the tabble, cuz he purfed but we where able to bring him back and 2day he is a healthy 2yr pup..:crazy02:

i hate those just for the fact that most of the time by the time owners get in or notice wats wrong it mite be 2 late. ugh!

Poor dog!!
i know but it needed to b done, she was very uncomfortable all the time.

(At first I thought it was you!!)
lol if it was me i woulda posted them 2!!!:laugh01:

Awww.... I hope the dog will be alright! Was the tumor benign?
Well by the looks of the and the fna(fine needle aspirate) the seem benign and they pup was recovering well when i left the clinic this afternoon. Im hopping for the best when i come in in the morning and that i dont get called in, in the middle of the nite...:uhoh:

Cool. Are you going to share the path reports or the photomicrographs of the histopathology when it comes back?

I have seen a guy who had his stomach full of latex gloves to the point of complete obstruction. LOL. Same deal I guess!

Yea i will share the results as soon as we get them in, we only get a report and not the photomicrographs cuz my boss is so dam old school.....ugh! i miss working in a more high tech clinic.......we had a bulldog that did that once but i didnt get to assist in the surgery :(....but he did well 2.

We tried to retrieve the gloves endoscopically but they had hardened or something because of gastric acidity & they ended up doing a laparotomy to get the wad of solidified gloves out. They were nasty!

I love, love, love photomicrographs of path. I'm not a pathologist, nor do I play one on cable TV, but I really enjoy the "what tissue is this? what cell type is this?" game.

Edit: bra & panties in a pup? I seem to recall someone on this forum has a dog that eats panties...

wow! i dont think my case was that serious! and yea i love playing that game 2....i love trying to guess just by looks 2.....ive been right and pretty close several times....shoot after almost 7yrs of being a vet tech i better be somewhat good at it...lol

WOAH! Yikes...

(At first I thought it was you!!)

Hahaha, me too! The worst part was I didn't even think it was weird! When my cast finally came off to reveal my stapled (not stitched!) up leg/knee, I had my camera out and was taking pictures with my macro lens, I was so fascinated!! haha. The pictures are pretty gross though, especially looking at them now, after I'm for the most part healed up.

Well guys 2day i got the results on the testing of these masses......Both where benign, but they where both necrotic lipomas. So if we hadn't removed them the infection woulda made the dog septic and it coulda killed her 2. Also i am glad to say that the pup is recovering well and is a totally diff pup more heathy dog.

Hey, I was right, they were lipomas. Necrotic lipomas, huh? Yeah, given the size of them the poor pup would have gone septic and died. Great save!
