What do you think I am, a rescue organisation??? Updated 5/2 with new pictures!

passing this on to a live feeder I know.
Get better Ratbait![/QU

O. M..G!!!!!!!!! PEOPLE disgust me I can't believe how bad this poor baby how would they like to walk around like this can't see in pain this poor lil thing this is sad I really hope nothing but the best for this poor thing wow is all I can say ... And another reason. Why I won't feed live really a shame

When Fred had his retained spectacle, I had really good luck using an opthalmic ointment several times a day. It came off with the next shed. But, it was only one layer.

Ugh. That is reprehensible. How can people either not notice or not care? Where is the compassion for other living creatures?:puke02:

oh gods...poor snake...thank goodness you have such a kind heart. we don't see reptiles at my clinic but i wish we did...although i'm sure i would end up with a housefull of rescues.

What did the owner say about it and how did you get it? Did you tell him about what he did wrong- I wouldn't want him to mess up again in five years.

I got him when one of the exotics vets at my work told his old owner that he might know someone who would take her snake as she did not feel financially nor emotionally able to take care of him, especially the whole having to give injections part.

And yes, the vet told her what she had done wrong. I doubt she'll be getting another snake.

I hope so... If a person cannot be responsible and educated for and about their pets, they should not own them. That's why it's so wonderful that stories like these happen: I admire you because of how educated and responsible you are.

He's doing really well, actually! He's going to shed any day now, and I'll post updated photos when that happens.

No shed yet, but I decided to take some pics after I applied some silvadene to his wounds. He looks SO much better!

Left side (please ignore the cat hair stuck to his silvadene. :p)

He is looking so much better! Great job with him too!

The name Ratbait makes me a little sad...not only did this poor creature suffer horribly being fed live, but you know the rats that did not get eaten also were beaten, starved or dehydrated to death.

All this animal needed was food that wouldn't hurt him....
All the prey wanted was to live.....
everybody lost out here......

Disgusting and sad on ALL counts.......

I agree entirely with the rest of your post as well. Ratbait popped into my head because his injuries reminded me of a bait dog, and seemed sadly fitting. I'm sure another name will propose itself once he heals, and whoever ends up adopting him will likely change his name as well.

Oh, I completely understand!!
He is coming along beautifully though.
