My right to bear arms is under fire right now.

<~~~ I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Sometimes it might as well be Beirut with the violence that happens, it seems, almost weekly.

My mother is the biggest pacifist that I know. Never been big on guns even for hunting purposes. I don't know how many times in my life have I been lectured about guns and guns safety from her. But in the last couple of years after seeing the crimes that happen all around her, she is thinking about gun ownership herself. That really tells me something.

I liked being prepared for the worst and pray for the best!

Sure beats being a mindless sheeple. :)

I hope that my name has not already been added to one of the lists of Do not sell firearms to. Because I am in the process of saving up for a hunting rifle... I hope to get it soon, but in order to have the money I have to sell most of my silver...LOL

Obviously, there are not enough guns in this county. We need to give everyone a gun so they can protect themselves from people who have guns.

And we also need to give everyone hand grenades. Because you know what they always say, “if you make hand grenades illegal only criminals will have hand grenades.”

There, fixed it for you.

As it is right now, I am pretty sure the only people who have functional hand grenades are cops, military, and people who are breaking/broke the law to get them... I am pretty sure that having explosives is illegal, but not 100% positive...

I've been pretty successful at avoiding problems. I was robbed once but it was just stuff. Stuff can be replaced. It sounds like some of you live in Beruit and I feel badly for you. I mean I can go to church, the local pub or Culvers without feeling like a sitting duck.

Yep, the safe ol' United States. Since graduating high school in 1987, I have been a victim of an armed home invasion in Winston-Salem, NC, been robbed at gun point in Durham, NC, and with a baseball bat by three assailants when I briefly lived in Denver, Co. and have had countless stitches, my nose and collar bone broken, and shattered both hands in fistfights from muggers. The one common thread was living in urban areas and poor neighborhoods. So guess what? As soon as I had a good enough job to buy a house, I looked for one thing -rural! I agree that 99% of it is "avoiding problems." Damn skippy. But I also agree with those here who carry a gun. It is SO easy to comfortably conceal a small handgun. If you just take the time to thoroughly familiarize with it, it is less dangerous than your daily commute. Obviously, if you aren't going to put some serious time and practice in, DON'T carry a gun! In fact, you probably shouldn't even own one. But like a musical instrument or bicycle, a few hundred/thousand repetitions and it becomes second nature. And you might even find target shooting to be very, very fun. I'd rather shoot steel than eat a steak these days. The last thing I'm going to do is tell anyone else how to live their own life, but to suggest that Beirut is a place of horror compared the the inner cities in the US is not terribly on point, either!

Grasping and reaching.

I could make the same argument for rock propelled grenade launchers....

You just sound petty and ridiculous.

I have actually had a Rocket Propelled Grenade fly past my head (in Afghanistan).
And, have met a prior service army guy who saw one of his friends die because of one hitting the gun turret he was in on the HMMWV. This happened on the U.S./Mexico Border, their convoy was on a training mission and came across cartel members... Luckily it was a live fire training mission, being so far away from civilization...

Exactly, which is why making an argument that civilians should have grenades of any kind is completely ridiculous.

During my short stint with Blackwater, I was on a simple executive protection detail in Texas, we saw several cartel members toting RPG type weapons. This was just outside a border town.

I don't understand what you mean. :shrugs:
How does a gun differ from a grenade? Or a rocket propelled grenade launcher? A grenade launcher launches a weapon (the grenade) that is meant to kill. A gun launches a weapon (a bullet) that is meant to kill. They both accomplish the exact same goal by different means. The end result is the same...people die.

If you have to ask how a gun is different from an RPG in a logical sense, I really don't know how to help you.

I'm sorry, I know you are doing the best you can.

Rocket propelled grenades don't have other purposes. Guns can be used for sport and providing food, just as a couple examples.
